So I guess Roc Nation is losing for not wanting to be like every other label and deal with only one hit wonders?
I need a distribution company

Wake up Jorge, it was a manufactured HIT!! You don’t have to even hear it to know it’s going to chart with those names.
J. Cole can do that easy, he just doesn’t want it like that.
^
You’re a schmuck. I know it’s a fucking manufactured hit… that doesn’t change the fact that it’s HIS fucking manufactured hit. At this point, it’s the ONLY way Cole is going to have a record blow for him.
Do you think people are gonna strip Jay from his first number 1 hit record because A. Keys made the record what it was? *insert rhetorical NO*
This is what music is all about. A lot of artist need help, especially Big Sean, but so does J. Cole.

it wouldn’t be a good idea for J. Cole to release a single with a Trey Songz feature…it isn’t a good look to get killed on your own shit (c) Wale/Lady Gaga – Chillin

Imagine If Cube wasn’t in Hollywood and didn’t make all those mediocre albums on the side…where he be on the all-time list
^^^
He’s in my Top 5. Easily.
His run with NWA + his first 4 solo albums more than solidify that. Everything else is a bonus.

Bun B will literally work with anybody.

So A Chick,
What you gonna say when J.Cole first single is produced by a super producer?
Just Blaze
No ID
Kanye
etc etc
————————
I’d say THANK GOD!
I’ve heard Cole over Just Blaze and Ye beats before and it’s amazing!
So I’m not saying that he shouldn’t work with hit-makers but I do understand him waiting to achieve success on his on merits. And his work isn’t bad at all but he’s still growing, production-wise. And while he is stepping up his skills, I’d prefer that he use someone else’s production so I can nod my head.

It doesn’t matter what Cole do niggas gon dissect and look for all the flaws and blow it up regardless…

SMH @ the kizzas who gave Camel 150 Million for up to this point only getting a BP3 album for their investment
^
Let me ask you a question, though. Would you have preferred Jay put out something that he knew wasn’t going to sell? If there isn’t a viable single, what do you expect Jay to do? You’re making remarks like the quintessential, irrational hip-hop fan. There has to be a strategy and it has to be somewhat executed. If after you’ve exhausted all avenues, you still don’t have a substantial buzz and a viable single, then you take the loss. But you don’t just put out an LP to pacify fans like you on a blog when it doesn’t economically make sense and you have investors to answer to.
^^^
Nothing is moving over there George…nothing, their two major acts one proven time & time again that hes gonna be extremely tedious w/ releasing even one song…
I don’t know what their plan Is but putting all the eggs in one basket w/ Cole hope he present the perfect single just seems silly to me…as record label gotta know what your artist is…is he a commercially viable superstar who gonna be all over the radio and be a breadwinner for the company or is he an artist whos gonna put well balanced music with a variety of topics but isn’t going to be able to consistently put out radio hits…Roc Nation should be to tell..its their job to recognize that…trying to fit a square block into a circle shape and doing nothing else in the meantime until it fits is waste of time and energy

Exactly!
That’s what I’m trying to translate to Jorge using simple vocabulary.
Waka’s hit last year “no hands” was handed to him by that kid Roscoe Dash.
It was Waka’s hit but Roscoe Dash and Wale made the song!!

^^^^^^^^^^
Thats the thing tho i really think they want Cole to be Wiz, Sean, or Drake. They want Cole to do those 150K #s 1st wk so their waiting for that hit single. I like Cole’s shit and anybody that listens to him cant tell me that he aint got the music to make a critically acclaimed album. The only thing I can see that would keep an album from being released is his presence in the mainstream.
July 7th, 2011 at 12:48 pm
Gotta run.
Be cool y’all!

They’re trying to put out different singles and its not working. They’re exhausting diff avenues. Not just putting out an LP after the first single fails. I’m not mad at Roc Nation for being patient. However, they should now be prepared to take a loss because i don’t see Cole selling more than 150k total.
I also don’t think Roc Nation is losing money like that either.
ps. be prepared to be a lot more frustrated with Jay Electronica

j cole – work out isn’t half bad, but it’s not it
July 7th, 2011 at 1:33 pm
j cole should record a full verse on “trouble” by bei maejor and release it as his single… that would be a big hit, that song bangs
