bsg is a hov stan to the hilt. that’s cool though. jay is definitely talented enough for that.

but to say you don’t hear/see the sharking he’s done over the decades is just dishonest.

first he sounded like kane, then he sounded like das efx (during OG Flavor era), then he jumped on the nas/wu/big train, then he sorta developed his own steez, only to jack young chris and he’s spent the last few years being a yeezy follower.

    ^

Thats the thing–> They occupied the same lane, and instead of either evolving his style or changing his subject focus, AZ tried to continue doing what he was doing, making him sound like the poor man’s Nasir, instead of the Brooklyn nigga who gave Nasir a style to run with.

Even his first album came off sounding like a bootleg illmatic/firm hybrid–> if AZ would have EMBRACED that Firm/Mafioso shit and sprinkled that 5% gem shit throughout the record, he coulda won BIG.

In its second week out the album sold 174,000 copies, an 84 percent drop, according to data from Nielsen SoundScan. Its strongest competition on the Billboard chart this week is Adele’s “21” (XL), which sold 121,000 copies in its 15th week in stores, bringing the album’s total sales past two million, the first title this year to cross that benchmark.

Meth winning that grammy was the worst thing to happen to his career.

Niggas gave Tical a pass after RZA revealed they lost his OG album (plus Bring the Pain was such a banger), but instead of locking in with the RZA and trying to establish that Wu sound or let him craft his album, he (much like AZ) tried to hop in another niggas lane (in this case, Reggie Noble).

Rae did fall off, tho. Immobilarity, Lex Diamonds Story are both cheeks.

And its Raes fault for not trying to heed the Abbot.

Rae saving grace WAS that he had OB4CL as his legacy, and the Wu’s legacy in general to fall back on. That allowed him to revisit that project with only the expectation of matching the sound, not the actual success.

its cool tho, cuz Big L i sill, Jay Z seen that, and was like “i cna rap like that as well,” but in addition to his other rapping

its just weird how after that phase/time, he never really rapped like that again. thhats why a lot of people say he went throug phases… people are still part of his environment, which rappers use to make music.. but it just seems off/strange/diff

    but who cares.

We should parse that one a little bit more.

I don’t think Nas hates anyone – but his imagery and some of the sympathies he’s hinted at in his music/interviews seem to turn some more sensitive people off.

I’m probably reaching – but do the research if you want to – read the reviews of his last few albums (specifically ‘Untitled/N*gger’). If the reviewer has an obviously jewish name I bet the review is going to be bad. Look it up.

that reviewer prob cares more about his personal religious choices than the music

i agree that Nas now really doesnt hate anyone, other than people who have snaked him. i dont know Nas nor do i speak with him, so this is all 100% opinion, but through the music/interviews, it seems he is just trying to be happy. and talk about other things through his music.

personally i always thought Nas was cool with almost all religion, maybe not ccertain people, but the idea of the philosophies and historical sites are constant in the music
