I’m closer to The Godfather than Goodfellas

Godfather just touched on loyalties, disloyalties, betrayals, jealousy, pride, things that kill men quicker than guns.

And Goodfellas doesn’t have the subtle gems and diamonds that Godfather does.

Vito: Consiglieri of mine, I think you should tell your Don what everyone seems to know.
Tom: I didn’t tell Mama anything. I was about to come up and and tell you now.”
Vito:”But you needed a drink first.”
    Tom: (says nothing)
Vito: Well, now you’ve had your drink.

Subtle indeed. Even a thinking and intelligent man like Tom couldn’t bring himself to talk to Vito man-to-man without getting fucked up first. Everyone’s been there, and knows people that have been there.

  338. SPITGAME Says:

Mario Puzo, who wrote the novel upon which the films were based and helped write the first two screenplays, had another Corleone story in his pocket, it turns out, tracing in more detail Vito’s rise through the 1920’s and 30’s New York mob scene. The tales took shape in a screenplay that went unproduced, and while the original actors are far too old or otherwise unavailable to bring a fourth “Godfather” film — especially one set before the original — to screen, Puzo’s final Corleone story will be told within the confines of a new novel.
The novel, to be titled “The Family Corleone,” will be adapted by author Edward Falco from screenplay to book and released in June, 2012, The New York Times reports. Falco, a professor at Virginia Tech, recently published his own mob-related book, “Saint John of the Five Boroughs.” He’s also the uncle of former “Sopranos” star Edie Falco.

    ^^^

I’m hearing you. But the paranoia of the 40s vs the paranoia of the 70s were different.

Jimmy Conway was worried about the cops coming to get him and lose trust in his friends

Vito hated the fact that he had to continue break bread with men that he knew tried to kill him AND killed his children.

Michael was paranoid that his own family members wanted him dead from jealousy, and the men who he paid and were supposed to be loyal to him were snitching on him from the same jealousy.

Godfather > Goodfellas but its not like your losing with either

She told police she dashed outside after noticing something moving inside the tank when she lifted the lid.

Believing there might be a person trapped she asked a man who was standing nearby to go in and check.

He confirmed that there was a man covered in a tarpaulin hiding inside the tank.

A few minutes later, he heard the door lock from the inside. A festival security man waited outside for several minutes before the man finally emerged.
