Complex Previews The Random Axe LP

Complex hit up the recent Random Axe listening session and they’re put together a track-by-track preview of the LP.

Here’s what they had to say about a cut called “Random Call” which sounds like it will be the next single.

Complex says: There’s a video on the way for this one and that’s probably because (like Black says) it sounds like some end of the world shit. Black handles hook duties as he makes calls from the 3-1-3 to the NYC. Guilty drops bars about how he gave his mom nothing but headaches and P spits that aggressive content, “You can call me one dimensional/But I put six slugs right into you.”

Read the full preview here.

I don’t like his music. Period. No amount of reasoning behind it is going to change that. Only the music can change that for me. If an artist has to place a huge explanation next to their painting for people to get it then it’s not the people’s fault for not understanding — the artist fucked up somewhere when they constructed their project.

But since art is objective, it’s not supposed to resonate identically with everyone…or at all with some people. I’m in the group for Lil B that just doesn’t get it and is not interested. That doesn’t make me a hater. It just makes me not a fan.

I think it is about more than that. I think fans are hungry for rappers who can actually articulate a challenging idea. I think Lil B does that.
