This kizza makes them smooth ass R&B beats with incredible pockets for rap verses.

If this shit is any sign of the type of music he’s creating for Take Care, im lookin forward to it …

I say Drake took an L on this tho. Produced by 40…Drake was the first one to publicly talk about wanting a Sade collabo. Drake’s sing-songy rap style would’ve fit in better on this than Jay’s verse did. Not saying Jay’s verse was bad, im #jussayin.

    Drake remix verse coming?

Ethnomusicologist Joseph Schloss, author of “Making Beats: The Art of Sample-Based Hip-Hop,” suggests that the Internet-powered ubiquity of sample information has diminished its value. “You can find both the information and the recording online, so you can satisfy that urge without buying the record or even working very hard,” says Schloss, adding, “ironically, it almost seems that what we miss in retrospect is the work itself, rather than the rewards.”

Sometimes “the work” comes through chance. Heinke cracked the code of “Shook Ones Part II” while listening to “Jessica,” a 1969 recording by Herbie Hancock. It turns out that Mobb Deep rapper-producer Havoc took a piano melody from the song and slowed it down at two different pitches to create a two-bar loop more reminiscent of a bass guitar than keyboard. After Heinke announced his discovery, another Internet denizen, “Hawkeye,” created a sound file (now on YouTube, natch) that re-creates that transformation process.

damn so is Herbie gonna come to the Mobb for some money now? This is that snitching that DJ Premier got so upset at.

Tampa Bay Rays slugger Manny Ramirez has notified Major League Baseball that he is retiring after being notified of an issue under MLB’s drug policy.

Ramirez tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug during spring training and retired rather than face a 100-game suspension, The New York Times reported on its website.

Major League Baseball announced the move in a statement on Friday but did not say whether Ramirez tested positive for a banned substance. He has previously served a 50-game suspension for violating the drug policy while he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    HOLY SHIT…

At least BIG! But yeah what he said. I listen to alot of these new cats and there is NO bridge just a cliff with a huge void between that AND this.

There are a few nice new jacks. Just no SUPERSTARS. Maybe that day is dead.

  42. vhingrhamesonyo'momma Says:

stop playin this shit blows donkey balls! good song, meh verse, even more meh of a beat. I would’ve appreciated some new shit where the artist actually collab’ed and made a great piece of work. Jay’s lackluster verse over this throwaway TML beat is a real let down. great for the culture, ass artisticly.
