  40. hl Says:

  41. Troubleshooter1900 Says:

It’s also a better performance IMO. The artist isn’t screaming in the mic, running all across the stage all amped up either. They actually perform instead of looking like a juiced out animation.

    ^^^

That would’ve been an ill show. I saw Blu and J*DaVeY at Club Liv in DC last night, as soon as you walked in you were right next to the stage. Could’ve only fit a couple hundred people in there, so it was a pretty tight venue. Only problem was their sound started fucking up halfway through the show.

    Well-run small venues >>>

  46. G7 Says:

    *edit* way back

  47. rex hussla Says:

I like smaller venues because it’s more intimate [ll], and you know whoever is there is actually a fan of the music and not the scene or hype…and the artist usually can recognize that too.

Plus you usually chop it up with everybody involved, record performaces or take flicks to document everything and whatnot. Big venues are full of security shutting all that kinda shit down.

  48. Samir Says:

House of Blues in Myrtle Beach >>>

  49. rex hussla Says:

And definitely co-sign it being easier to get a drink >>>

At the Talib show at the House of Blues the other night it was all ages, so to drink you had to stay in the back and couldn’t get on the general admission floor. That was cool until I was charged $7 for a 12 oz Blue Moon. I almost smacked the bartender. Good thing I was drunk off Absolut already.

  50. Troubleshooter1900 Says:

    Damn Rex, 12 smacks?

I get twisted before I go, take a flask, and order a Goose Island or a Bud Light at the show. I stay decent for a minute.

Sometimes I’ll order a vodka cranberry and dump my flask over the ice when I’m done because by that time, my flask will have my check cold as hell because it’s been in the freezer for hours.

ECATUR, Ga. – DeKalb County Police say Radric Davis, also known as Gucci Mane, was arrested by the DeKalb County Fugitive Squad Friday.

Davis was arrested while visiting his probation officer at the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office on Sylvan Road in Atlanta, say authorities.

Davis is charged with battery, a misdemeanor but as a result of the arrest will be also charged with violating his probation. Davis is on probation for previous unrelated charges.

Police say they arrested Davis on a warrant that stated he intentionally caused visible bodily harm to a female by pushing her out of a moving vehicle.

Davis is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.

Sometimes “the work” comes through chance. Heinke cracked the code of “Shook Ones Part II” while listening to “Jessica,” a 1969 recording by Herbie Hancock. It turns out that Mobb Deep rapper-producer Havoc took a piano melody from the song and slowed it down at two different pitches to create a two-bar loop more reminiscent of a bass guitar than keyboard. After Heinke announced his discovery, another Internet denizen, “Hawkeye,” created a sound file (now on YouTube, natch) that re-creates that transformation process.
