this is true. but HOW many lawyers really do that tho? most people are happy with their salary and want enough time to enjoy their money. doctors progression by specializing into specific fields which pay more…

wen ur a doctor, ur ALWAYS gonna have a job and ur always gonna be in demand. also, ur always gonna get a good salary…
the same cant be said for lawyers..

plus, on a day to day basis..which career would provide more satisfaction?

^A lot of lawyers do that. I’ve come across my fair share of lawyers that now are in fields that are completely unrelated to the practice of law, but that degree opens many other doors that a medical degree wouldn’t necessarily open.

And for the satisfaction, that depends on the person. Some may get the immediate satisfaction for helping those that are ill.

But me, i would get immense satisfaction from freeing innocent brothers and sisters trapped in the system.

  4. Captain Planet Says:

not really. i don’t do anything to impede the progress of any woman. ever. with that said, if i ever have to raise a daughter, i’m not going to lie to her and tell her that it’s all peaches and cream out here. it’s a cold world, and if she plans on making it on her own, then she’s going to have to be at least twice as tough as the men she’s competing with in all aspects of life, mentally, physically and psychologically. this is the challenge, point blank period. for whatever reason (media, bad parenting, society, etc.) many young women aren’t built for this. question: what’s the ratio of strippers, prostitutes and pornstars to female CEO’s and national Presidents?

    >>> I already agreed to disagree with you.

We see life in two different ways … but I will humor you (ll)

I’m not just talking about your future daughter that you may never have.

I’m talking about you being a position to hire a man and woman with the same credentials except having a dick. I’m sorry but from your sentiments I imagine you saying in the back of your mind, ” This girl won’t last, she doesn’t have what it takes. ” Just because she lacks a phallus. That’s wrong to me. And that’s what I mean by it hurting our women and sisters.

Don’t get me wrong there are many chauvinistic men like you and I don’t mind that in a relationship. I mean actually I think traditional relationships where a women at the end of the day submits to a man work the best because it’s the most natural. But when this crosses into the business arena I think it’s flat out wrong. The woman you are underestimating could be supporting her children or younger brothers and sisters, handling more on her plate than the guy with the crew cut that you can talk NCAA games with. She should deserve the same opportunity if she is as qualified and willing to work hard and there should be no preconceived notions about her ability to work and diligence.

Not to take things too far but what you’re saying sounds EXACTLY like what whites used to say about blacks. It’s no wonder that some of the biggest supporters of civil rights was women. 1. because they shared the pain and 2. Because they knew equality for all would expand to support them.

question: what’s the ratio of strippers, prostitutes and pornstars to female CEO’s and national Presidents?

And to that last question, you get a big fat ” C’mon Man!! ”

Strippers and prostitutes and the like are a female dominated field not because so many women love to do that shit but because the demand for it by men is high. If men did not want to pay to see women naked, a lot of those women would be flipping burgers. Plus to compare ratios of those two different fields is quite misleading.

    ^
thats because most lawyers need to supplement their income.

doctors dont need to do that. theyre perfectly happy to be a doctor and call it a day. doctors could do alot of things outside of the hospital that pay ALOT (research, business in pharmaceuticals, opening up private clinics, doing political stuff related to medicine in poor counties etc)…but most dont feel the need.

however, medical LAW is where its at. if u get both a medical and law degree, its one of the most speciailised and high paying career fields u can have.

and being a doctor is also ”freeing the innocent brothers and sisters” suffering from illness

  9. Mook Says:

The week’s real surprise is Atlantic hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers, which is on target for sales between 190-215k,

    ^

Damn I expected him to sell at least 350k or more

  10. DJ Chase Says:

thats because most lawyers need to supplement their income.

^I agree with you on everything else but the above point. When i was saying that they do this, its not to supplement an income, it is their income.

But Medical law, malpractice, insurance, fraud, all of it, is always in high demand.

    But I’m out yall.

    1ne

  11. Captain Planet Says:

To the law vs. medicine discussion …

I don’t think it’s fair to say lawyers enter other fields because you HAVE to supplement your income.

It’s most times to explore your real interest …

Think Ari in Entourage as an agent (I know he’s fake but a reflective example) and Harvey Levin the host and owner of TMZ who used to be a lawyer …

Law is a golden degree is the same way business is. It provides a lot of freedom and allows you to apply yourself to anything you love.

Every industry needs a lawyer, not everyone needs a doctor.

  12. Smooth Says:

When i was saying that they do this, its not to supplement an income, it is their income.

    ^

OH ok, yea i see what ur saying. Its true, a law degree can lead to alot of money…
im just talkin on average, like the AVERAGE doctor earns more than the AVERAGE person with a law degree
but the skys the limit, if u have a law degree u can end up the CEO of a business and what not

I disagree with the second statement. Doctors are ALWAYS in demand. U will always have a job if u have a medical degree. u can move to Hong Kong and will get employed, u can move to Africa and ur skills will be in high demand

Theres loads of people with law degrees, competiting for few places. u have to graduate from a top law school with top grades to be in a chance of making big $$

    >>> No I certainly agree with you, lot of people with law degrees without jobs.

I said every INDUSTRY tho. Like a trash company needs a lawyer just in case something happens. They don’t necessarily need a doctor.

I’m saying in terms of getting involved in your passion, law is a good way in. Like music for example, musicians and rappers need a lawyer to protect them and help read contracts. That’s an in if you got a law degree but want to do music.

I’m sure many who have been in education recently can agree.

Most Lawyers are affiable people outside their practice who gives a lot back.

As for money, they are all winning: doctors and lawyers alike. No need to think one is better than the other. Hell, some nurses net more than doctors after insurance and taxes, so negative on Doctors making more than lawyers. We go into different areas because it’s very GOOD side money. Doctors go because after paying back loans and insurance, make less than 80k. Let’s be clear. And most firms now days will pay your loans for you. So………

if you want guaranteed high paying career in the sciences pharmacy is it. start out 90 to 120 k guaranteed. You can work anywhere in the country. Or work part time making $40 an hour. But most of them have to deal with customers which sucks. I know a number of pharmacists that quit or hate the job because of customers.

Health care is where its at though. Masters of Public Health or Dr of public health are at the top of all these health care, pharmaceutical and hospital type situations. There is so much money and jobs in the management side of health care its a crime people dont know about them.

The thing about Petroleum Eng [and maybe Chem Eng too] is that the locations of the jobs may suck and that might have something to do with the higher salaries.

I don’t know, I’m basing that off of nothing, really. I might be completely wrong here.

    >>> Word. It’s a good guess tho I could see you on a rig in the middle of the ocean or in Saudi Arabia chasing Arab pussy.

  165. Smooth Says:

If u think about it….All friendships are based up the relationship being beneficial upon both parties. As soon as it ceases benefitting both ‘friends’ the friendship ceases to exist….

For example, the friendship could be based upon common interests (eg. sports, rap music). In this situation, the friendship benefits both parties as it allows them to express and listen to matters relating to their interest. If the friends were banned from talking the common interest, the friendship would disintegrate

The friendship could be based upon activity. For example, the ‘friends’ might frequently go out clubbing together (thus using each other for company)…

‘friendship’ as portrayed by society is a myth, if u really think about it. friendship in todays society is a very shallow phenomina.
thats y alot of friendships go to waste over just one argument/incident. the original foundation of the friendship was weak…

love is the only thing that can overcome all of the above

Actuarial science, not so much. There’s just not that many jobs lying around.

^but isnt there a lot of stat involved? The key to success with stat is being able to know how to use it in decision making or predcitions. Thats needed in almost every field. Im thinking thats a big part of actuary, but I dont know any actuary scientists personally.

that’s why passing as many exams as you can and decent grades in college are KEY. i can tell you from experience… most people in Actuarial Science in my school have well below a 3.0… due to the overall difficulty of the courses… now as as nigga with a 4.0 in this major… internships will be at ur front door… now a 4.0 is very difficult to get in this major but hell i guess i don’t got nothin else to do with my life…

Statistics is gonna grow big, and I think it’s a good field. I’m considering it myself.

Actuarial science is related to stats and probability [and basic econ, finance]. But there just aren’t a lot of new ‘actuary’ jobs every year. The percentage is alright so it gets pegged as growing quick, but the actual number is low, especially when you consider the number of actuarial science grads every year.

I know 3 guys studying it. I’ll let you know how it goes in about 2 years, lol.

Hey if you’re doing well in Actuarial Science and have good prospects I’m in no position to dismiss it.

I’m just saying job growth in that area sounds like it is much lower than the supply of actuarial science majors, and other majors who have passed tests. It seems like it’s hard to get a foot in the door.

yeah ur actually correct to a great extent i was just arguing for the sake of arguing lol a good amount of Actuary’s have to move into other fields but there are a lot of reasons for this (grades, exams passed, connections, university attented, connections, etc…) but if u have an Actuary degree then TRUST u will be respected in every other field of finance and statistics and you will get a pretty decent job elsewhere
