I don’t see how you can possibly make an opinion on Nore based off Superthug. If you never listened to Blood Money, Halfway Thugs, LA,LA– hell, he has so much early shit prior to the release of NORE (which in an of itself is a classic) that your opinion can’t even be part of the discussion.

And for the record, a validated opinion means you have both a reason for your opinion, but you can also DEFEND your reasoning. Being capable of defending your opinion validates it, because at least people know where you stand, and your opinion doesn’t sound like your talking out of your ass.

    JihaD

    ^^^^^

Nah bruh. An opinion is an opinion. You can’t validate something that that in its very nature has no solidarity. I can switch an opinion easy, making the 2nd no less “valid” than the first. Validity is a matter of truth and fallacy. If you can back up your opinion, that doesn’t make the opinion itself any more “true” than it was if he or she was just spitting shit from their ass. If the shit is *based* on facts, congratulations, said opinion has been backed up and supported, and can still be as non sensical as it needs to be.

Opinion: Hitler wasn’t a bad guy

Fact: Stalin had more people killed than Hitler

Argument birthed from opinion based on fact:
Hitler wasn’t that bad of a guy because Stalin actually had more people killed

hold up – ill try find the exact quote – it was from the west coast hip hop summit in 2002

He explained that rap sales were down by almost 20%. He noted that he felt it may have to do with the fact that what we are getting from many rap artists is manufactured and not truthful in the way that Minister Farrakhan described. He noted that nowadays people are looking toward artists like Jill Scott, Bilal and others who seem to be representing a truthful vibe for the people. He also pointed out the high ratings and current demand for spoken word artists who seem to have taken the place of rap artists in terms of speaking truth.

  61. Harlem World Says:

this is from the same summitt russell was at – kinda scary thinking that this was 2002 – the industry has regressed back to the days of morris levy and em

“Suge spoke about the type of tactics that go on behind the scene where labels try to get rap groups to break up and go solo so they can make more money.

He also spoke on how all the new boy bands are merely carbon copies of the Black Boy bands like Boyz II Men from a few years a back.

He rhetorically asked the question as to where are they now? Suge also spoke on the state of today’s male groups by noting that the industry has positioned them so they no longer have an identity. He pointed out if it wasn’t for a video you would not no the difference between a 112 or Jagged Edge. He suggested this turn of events is a deliberate attempt to keep Black artists at a certain level.”

    ^

A discussion that I started myself? So anyways…

No, I haven’t heard War Report nor care to, because the music that I have heard from N.O.R.E. doesn’t interest me, nor gives me any incentive to look behind the industry curtains (if we’re entertaining this, if not I’ll dead it) of the singles.

I mean if I already don’t like them, then what cause do i have outside of any fan-convincing (which im all ears to) to give them 3 hours of my time. I’m not from NY, I’m from VA and like it or not N.O.R.E. exposed themselves [||] [double pause] to me via radio and tv, their mixtape circuit (I’ll assume they have one of course) didnt reach down here, the Hot 97 freestyles or Clue tapes they may or may not have, most of that stayed in NY.

Meanwhile, 12 years old sitting in front of the tv or listening to the radio, all I had were his/their radio singles. And outside of my bias of them rapping over Neptunes beats, I didn’t like what I heard, so I’m not a fan.

But if niggas want to change my mind, I got free time, internet access, and an open mind.

  67. Harlem World Says:

A lot of cats seemed to be hearing Suge and was digging his remarks and break down of the music industry politics. Suddenly he appeared to take a left turn. He started talking about P-Diddy, Dr. Dre, Cash Money and Master P to name a few. He pointed out that none of these guys own their own masters and are essentially puppets for the major record labels. He explained that many artists who claim to have label deals only have logo deals. That means they stamp their name on a record label and are at the beck and call of the majors. He basically broke it down by explaining that majors allow these small labels to do all the A&R work for them.

    ^

I cut the rest of it, but ANY opinion can be argued– this is the true purpose of questions and validating your answer.

    Using your example.

Hitler Wasn’t a Bad Guy- I could argue that Hitler wasn’t a bad guy; he held deep seated beliefs about German superiority due to the unjust war sanctions levied by the winners of WW1, which almost bankrupted the German people . Hitler simultaneously jumps tarted the German economy and reignited the the nationalistic sense of pride Germans had lost. Any “bad things” he had done were completely complicit and outlined hi Mein Kompf, which was released YEARS before he came into power. Hitler was able to rebuild his economy using the same methods Causcasians had used for years, and the persecution of the Jewish people is miniscule compared Chattel Slavery.

Now, you may not AGREE with my opinion, but I certainly VALIDATED why I feel how I do, including backing it up with factual evidence.

And thats the difference between somebody “spewing random comments from their ass.”
