Video: Prodigy Interview w/ The Source

P sits down with the homie Combat Jack for his first interview since his release from prison last week. They talk about the bid, the state of the industry and the lack of individuality, appearing in the Unsigned Hype column as Poetical Prophets back in the day, how he’s feeling Kanye’s movement and more. UPDATE: The Source switched out the first clip with a different one. In this clip he speaks on his arrest, what he learned from his bid, how he passed the time, some of the more inflammatory blog posts he published while locked up (he says he doesn’t really think Jay-Z is Illuminati), Obama and more.

just look at what those Jay features did for Amil and Memphis Bleek’s careers
    ^^

for starters, that was during the time when Jay was still making his own career. Its harder to put people on when you aint all the way on.

& then when Jay was on… Bleek got gold albums which is not bad.

If cole had the right single he could do over 100K which isn’t bad today.

    50 Cent – Problem Child

No Kay slay or tags on it. Do you have it? I know it was on a 50 Mixtape called B-sides and Unreleased hits, part 2 i think.

    I need that

    Beans? Fallout and all….

    Just Blaze?

    Rihanna?

    Ne-Yo?

Jay lit the fire under Ross IMO.

& Jay is more capable of making a star after Empire State of Mind that he ever was before. that song was his “I’m a safe nigga, trust me” coming out anthem.

white folks eating out his hand right now. They don’t even realize they loved it because of Keys.

  18. Troubleshooter1900 Says:

He made Ace of Spades a celebrity right after he did diss track to Cristal.

Jay didn’t even want Kanye to rap (and Dame wanted a Kanye album with Jim Jones/Oschino verses on it; rofl)

Beans isn’t a star, dope rapper who has a solid catalogue though

    ^THIS.

Keys made that song and sung the part that white folks most remember, yet, Kay has done it again by getting false notoriety. Lol, dudes a genius at deceiving and flipping shit in his favor.

I applaud that talent to a degree.

“He aint pass me the throne, he just passed the patron.”

If Cole’s going to make it, he’s gonna have to do it on his own. I mean, they’ll put the resources behind him if he makes a hit single, but I don’t think that’s happened yet. Cause if it had, his album would be out.

  26. Jersey*made*me Says:

    WTF is a “star”?

Stars are in the sky last I checked.

J Cole makes quality music as far as beats and rhymes go,plus he built a nice following of fans. Dude makes money doing what he loves, who cares about all that star bullshit?

  28. Troubleshooter1900 Says:

^O but Beans WAS a star though.

Beans kinda fucked himself by care too much about a nigga that didn’t give a fuck about him. Only the income he bought in.

Beans is still a star to some though. Especially phillly niggas looking at his blueprint (the beginning of it)

  29. London Bloke Says:

    old, no efl.

    Lmao

  30. rocstar Says:

hov coulda put bridget kelly on the hook of empire and it still woulda been a smash.
beans coulda been a star had he layed off the crack.
and i think hov is stayin away from his artists on purpose. he doesnt want them to have to get up outa the hov shadow like bleek. and say what u want about bleek but he is a dope rapper and plays his role perfectly.
u ever seen him playin hypeman at a hov concert? he doesnt get enough credit for it.
