    ^

In some ways your right– there are only so many ways to put words together.

What I’m referring to is moreso cadence, flow, and the way certain areas/cities rap. (Ie, Vado don’t sound like Freddie Gibbs, Gibbs don’t sound like Meek, and Meek don’t sound like Kendrick Lamar, etc, etc)

But lots of rappers have various cadences and flows, which are their OWN, or a mix of the people who influenced them that they made their OWN.

    Monch
    Snoop
    Big
    Twista
    Nas

etc, etc. You can be yourself on the mic, but you not gonna tell me when you heard the Sacarios or the Shynes (pre prison rape) or Guerilla Blacks or the Asher Roths, etc that you didn’t just “LOL” them off as clones of other, more established artists.

Swear on your kids that you never heard: Dynasty, Blueprint 1 & 2, Black Album, Kingdom Come, AG or BP3. And that you never liked at least 1 of em.

    Swear down. LOL

    ^

I won’t put nothing like that on my kids, but I will say its been YEARS since I have taken time out of my life to listen to anything from the CamelGOAT. Like, I’ll listen if its on, but I ain’t going out of my way to listen to his music anymore.

i see what you’re saying… but i guess at this point i dont see how anyone can be all that unique… the sounds and the flows all seem almost the same…

the genre has become one big blob of grey where we used to see different shades of color…

and its pretty easy to say “this is what hiphop is all about now” because its true…

    a prime example:

i remember when BSG first linked some music… i coulda SWORN he was kid kudi… (anyone else remember that?) a few commenters agreed…

it was in the inflection of his voice and the delivery of a hook or something that immediately said “kid kudi” and im no kudi fan.. AT ALL…

i listen to Jay Electronica because he sounds NOTHING like a southern rapper…

its like this…i dont even like listening to my sisters kids talk on the phone cause they was born and raised in South Carolina… they smart kids and i love them all, but write me a letter or text or email when you wanna holla… their accents are too bamma…

for whatever reason, i just hate to hear my people speak with southern accents… its like for me, it has some kind of emotional attachment to slavery…
