Video: Young Guru Interview w/ The Hip-Hop Chronicle

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Young Guru sits down with The Hip-Hop Chronicle down in Austin and speaks on learning from Jazzy Jeff, growing as an engineer, running studio sessions, Watch The Throne, Jay’s next solo project which will be a concept album and more. But around the 5:00 mark he tells the story of how Jay laid down “Heart of The City” in one take before an R.Kelly video that had started playing in the studio before he walked into the booth was even finished. I actually heard that story, with much more embellishment, when myself, YN and a bunch of other folks were invited to Roc The Mic Studios to hear American Gangster. One Take Hov.
