Real rap tho… He GENERALIZED all Haitian women as to having AIDS… Thats where he was wrong…

    ^

I don’t see why this is such a difficult concept to grasp.

^ I get it, but generalizing is part of comedy. like all white men dance off beat, or or blacks eat watermelon and fried chicken.

We know its not true, but the joke is in generalizing.

  2. G7 Says:

    >>what you thought about the Sheeks LP? I thought it was cheeks after a few listens. Do i have to revisit it?

^i copped that and Ghosts new album on Tuesday. haven’t got around to Sheeks yet. defjam is not the right move for him, so my expectations aren’t too high. LA reid co executing that and Ghost’s album….fuck that.

    ——————
Agreed he was wrong but it was more like he hit below the belt and not that he made an outright slanderous comment. For the reason, I think he should be able to keep his job.

People immediately made the connection between his joke and the AIDS crisis in Haiti.

Now if he had said “I dont have HIV cuz I aint mess wit that Irish girl”
then would it have been a big deal? Or would people have laughed and said who the F has aids in Ireland??

Clearly no one raised their brows, scrunched up their face and said “who the F has aids in Haiti?”

And that’s the difference in my opinion.

Def Jam have released some dope albums tho.

But all in all, they fell off.

I used to look at Def Jam as a Stable of artists…they even had that fraternity love goin on..

why are majors so afraid to conform to the digital ages… is it because their power will be lessoned, because they are now playing on a medium available to all to play. Does having offices in tall bldgs give them the perception of power and strength…

I’ve heard it twice and really don’t have the desire to listen again. I will tho, out of respect, but I wasn’t too impressed. There are some joints, tho… I’m not mad at Ghost either… he’s blessed his fans (II) with an incredible catalog.

The New York Jets are on the verge of making the playoffs, but the focus once again is off the field as coach Rex Ryan is being asked whether his wife, Michelle, posted foot-fetish videos on the Internet.

In a conference call with Chicago reporters leading up to Sunday’s big game with the Bears, Ryan didn’t deny a Deadspin.com report that shows a number of videos of a woman who looks very much like his wife showing off her feet while a cameraman — who sounds like Ryan — talks to the woman.

Ryan said it was between him and his wife and he would not elaborate beyond that.

The Jets already had issued a statement: “This is a personal matter and Rex will have no comment.”

RIGZ, I don’t think that technology is so far away.

    ^^

Its not far away at all, I remember you couldnt just burn Alicia Key’s CD..it had some sorta block on it…but that was off CD

Im saying on MP3, once that hits ONE PERSON, its worldwide within seconds. And thats the official, mastered version too. This is very different from someone copying a CD for everyone on their block lol

Having music exclusively available on one medium, where u can either get it instantly for free & or instantly legally (with no quality or packaging difference ), might confuse a consumer.

Right now, inlays, simply having a hard copy for storage / memorabilia purposes & the want to help your favourite artist is the only thing saving sales (in hiphop anyway).

Taking away two of those factors is a risk. Labels dont like risks lol

^Word. Why would anyone purchase an album digitally when you could just as easy type it into google and get it for free. I would think most of the people that are willing to pay for it would prefer a digital copy. I don’t know though.

  64. RIGZ Says:

Packaging used to be a very very important part of the ALBUM…

That aspect of the game will be lost…

Houston-based rapper Paul Wall has lost a lot of weight since his ‘Sittin’ Sidways’ days – and he reveals that earlier this year he had a Gastric Sleeve procedure in an interview with Ozone magazine (via VIBE):

Since going back and forth on the drugs for years and taking diet pills, my metabolism was really gone. So I decided to go with the gastric sleeve, because it’s a little more serious than the lap band. They also cut out the hormones that make you hungry. So I actually don’t even get hungry anymore. The doctor talked me out of doing the lap band; he told me it’s the most popular, but it’s not as effective. With the lap band, you lose about 50% of your excess weight. I was 120 pounds overweight. I weighed 320 pounds, and I’m six feet tall. So with the lap band I still would’ve been morbidly obese. With the gastric sleeve, you typically lose 80% of your excess fat. I lost 100 pounds with it, so that’s putting me in a more healthy weight class.

Working out is not part of Paul’s regimen.

“Nah. I’ve probably worked out twice since I had [the surgery] and that was just a light workout,” he said.

Until we start looking at Haitians, Ethiopians, South Afrikans, Nigerians, Jamaicans as brethren spread about due to the diaspora, we will continue to lose.

Negus have to learn to overlook differences as move as ONE. We all come from the same place at the end of the day. I peep all the genocides going on in Afrika now, with one tribe bringing about the utter destruction of others via grotesque means, and if you peep the root of most of those conflicts, you’ll find that western imperialism is the most common denominator.

Until we unite against the common enemy to take back the socio-economic future of the birthplace of humanity, We LOST.
