YG ft. Big K.R.I.T., Big Sean & Ty$ – In The Morning

YG is that “Toot It & Boot It” guy, but the hook on this track is money. Maybe it’s a Cali thing. Can’t front though, Big K.R.I.T. went in on his verse too.

that cd stays great for being with pussy. that hook is catchy too.

    they shouldve advertised it like

“if your bitch unhappy with your music selection before or during fucking? can you no longer get away with playing ready to die while fucking? do you hate listening to drake and the other clowns she tries to play? well have we got a product for you… straight out of the Shaolin, Mr. Tony Starks AKA Ghostface Killah of the WU Tang (diversify ya bonds) comes “Ghostdeini-Wizard of Poetry”.

Yes now when getting frisky with your hoe, you can both be happy and stay in the mood while listening to man himself, Ghostface. Such love making classics such as:

    Stapleton Sex

    and moreeee

    ^^

Nah. Once the decent beef ended, so did those tapes. Cutta is a piece of shit too. Me and my mans was moving mixtapes from him, DNA and DJ Rob (Target Squad, an independent label/street team in DC) throughout the DMV area– had about 15 stores locked down, making great side money and putting their project in a lot of peoples stores as well.

This dickhead pulled a fucking Carlos from Blow on us, trying to track down our store connect with this one jawn we was pulling about 1500 from monthly.

Fucking piece of shit, along with Raj (the owner of Target Squad store in NW–them niggas got raided by the feds a while back and now they run DC Star) basically had us followed and undercut us with the owner. We was buying from DNA/Raj/Cutta for 1.50 and selling for 5. This dickhead sells for 2 just to get the business away from us.

I almost killed that persian fuck when I found out.

So yea, fuck him, Cutta, DNA, and the whole Target Squad movment…

PT2, just like PT1, grows on you after a listen or 2.

^This is true. The point is Sales dont mean the album is good or bad. Spitta still gettin money of Rap and creatin good music. Shit his job is to smoke, fuck bitches, travel, do shows, and record songs of his life. I’d take that life. Plus he got some ventures im sure he got a lil dough sans the tree habit

    true true.
i just wonder how many people streamed it or something thne were like nah. cuz i had 2nd thoughts almost before buying it, but glad I did.

and yeah, traveling and doing shows is the real income today for rappers. getting even 1000 a show means you can make (and not do daily shows/kill ya self going around) like 20k a month on that alone…

They were doing a joint Gangsta Grillz/DJ Rob mixtape to help promote, so me and my homies went in are wrote 2 songs for their camp- Say It To My Face & Squad Up for the project. Juicy J came in to do some drops for the project and we were in the studio– We played Juicy some songs and he got excited, like “Yo, I need to take something to Paul; ya’ll got something here.” Raj burned up a quick cd and included Say It To My Face on there. J kept putting me off on Raj for the #, and Raj kept saying, “Yo, lemme talk to them niggas, we cool.” Being a naive son-of-a-bitch, i let him handle it.

yeah thats what i thought. and in todays world esp. the shows/merchandise is the only way to survive. which as a concert goer, only makes me happier, nh.

im saying you write for a couple months tour for 3-4 months, and try to be smart with the money.

also if you got a buzz, tour till you can tour no more, and write while on the bus….

    1) Drake was never indie during So Far Gone. Lemme find that Cortez Bryant interview I read.

    2) People were signing to Koch without actually signing contracts. You can’t pay someone you don’t legally owe.

    ^^

Yea, that whole “Drake is an independent artist” creating a natural buzz was label politics. Why do you think he’s signed to 4 different labels, telling Slyvia Rhone @ Motown he was sorry for saying negative things about her?

He was an industry prototype for what they are doing now with people like Wiz– fronting like they are building organically but actually being signed to a label.

The koch thing was shot down by Rah Digga, who was interested when Sheek was talking that he was making 7$ an album– even 50 said he would be on Koch if they was just giving away money like that. Digga said they were only offering around 4 (which is much better than industry standard), but you had to handle almost EVERYTHING yourself, with a very minimal budget.

I thought the reason that niggas went indie was because u got like 7 dollars per album sold as opposed to the 7 cents u get at a major.

  172. Captain Planet Says:

I might “know” who he is, i.e, I know is name and some generalities about him, but I have never listened to his music, so I don’t know the artist. I couldn’t quote a line, name a song, or even pick that nigga outta of a line-up if I knew everyone else in it.

    But whatever, fuck a Currensy.

    ^^^

I think you’re missing the point. We were talking about exposure of internet artists such as Yelawolf. My point is that in terms of exposure Curren$y does not equal a Charles Hamilton. Curren$y was on No Limit back in the day, had a pretty big single “Where the Cash At” on Young Money and now is affiliated with one of the most important figures of the past decade: Dame Dash. In summary, I believe my point stands. He’s not failing because people don’t KNOW him, he’s failing because people aren’t SEEING him because he doesn’t hav the promotion of a major.

i may be wrong, i am NOT in the industry at all, but what would make you asssume an artist gets 25% of their album sales on a major? I mean… isnt it something like under 10%? and that may be without the money they owe too…

again no shots, but confused on the logic i guess

    ^^^

No shots, but I think it would be more appropriate to say you’re confused with the math

Using the same analogy and your lower figure

    75% of 14K = 10.5, 10 % of 100K = obviously 10K. So with YOUR figures you’re saying Curren$y is in a better situation because he gets 500 more?

^ It’s actually more than that. Of that 10% the artist gets on a major, he still owes other people. And this is the age of the internet. People are getting shows from mixtape buzz alone. Of course a major helps but that’s only if your deal is right (which most of ’em aren’t). The point is, if you’re willing to work, it CAN and HAS been done without one. For some artists there’s a benefit to being on a major. For Wiz Khalifa, Atlantic had to pretty much break the Brinks for that dude because he was already good without one. For others, with no buzz, it’s just a rape fest.

Factor in less promotion, less you are able to charge for a show and you can quickly see why being independent has limited benefits UNLESS you’re selling major numbers anyway
    ^

Yo.. you realize your whole argument makes no sense right.. 14K and 100K are the amount of albums sold.. your taking a percentage of albums sold, which doesnt really do anything unless youre factoring in how much money each artist makes off each album.. independant vs major.. so stop cuz your making dumb people dumber

  177. Captain Planet Says:

Look before we get into number and niggas need their graphing calculators. My pain point is this: The only way being independent is beneficial is if you are doing major numbers anyway (100K+) Because getting a whole lot of nothing is still a whole lot of nothing.

You look at the features for So Far Gone(Wayne, Trey) and this becomes more and more apparent. This nigga was getting major label features as a true indie artist from Canada? FOH!

You’re the one missing the point, percentage you make an album is pretty close to the percentage you take from the albums you sell. You’re right not the same thing, but it does make the relationship easy to see. But that’s why I put it in laymans terms so your head wouldn’t blow up.

  183. D. Billz Says:

And Curren$y has already been on two of the biggest labels of all time. HE’S the one that schooled Wiz on the business (by Wiz’s own admission). He gets offers all the time. But I guess none suit to his liking. And with Dame in his corner, he can probably weed out the bullshit a lot easier. We all ASSUME we know how Curren$y is doing financially… but he’s a 29-year-old man with a few cribs, a few cars, a clothing contract, some advertising deals, and a consistency of shows that outworks most on a major. I don’t care what’s in his pockets but I think he’s doing just fine.

I mean, look at the trailer for Joe Budden’s MM4. You don’t have to like him or his music, but I’m pretty knowledge of real estate costs and that house they showed (the one with him, Dolla Dill, and Esther Baxter moving his stuff into) aint cheap by any standard. Without HIM, Slaugtherhouse wouldn’t have gotten that Shady deal. FACT. So it’s not all about jumping at the first (or second, or third, or fourth) deal thrown your way. Let them boys cook (c) Lil B

They broke the bank because he had a buzz, not because he didn’t need a major. Wiz and the majors knew he needed a major to get to next level. It’s just business. If Curren$y signed at the same time he would be doing as good or better. The only reason he doesn’t sign is because he doesn’t like losing his autonomy and the politics of it. But that’s his loss, cause any blind man can see Wiz is about to get paid with a capital P.
