Video: Dru Ha Interview w/ Al Lindstrom

Dru Ha of Duck Down Records speaks to Al Lindstrom about the early days of the independent label and he discusses their longevity and consistency after 15 years in the business.

Part two after the jump, where Dru talks about the success of Sean Price and the steps that Ruck took to reinvent himself. Dru also explains that just because an artist has everything it takes to be a success, doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll work. He says that there is such a thing as over-planning and that there are a lot of intangibles when it comes to rap because it is art and public opinion does play a big role.

I def think Austin is becoming more stuck up.

tons of hipsters & young business professionals. Both snob-ish demogrpahics LOL.

but overall people are attracted to it because its a big party scene & its cool music scene. Honestly I think any shine San Antonio is getting right now is just residual Austin shine. LOL. I like Austin though.

the girls here are cool, but its a pretty conservative city so a lot of them get married young, or take off ASAP. We got some nice lookin ladies down here though. They can be easy to pull sometimes.

but there is a lot of old money here so some of these socialite white girls are doin it extra big… crazy.
