i was talking to this girl yesterday… i asked if she voted.

she told me that she hadn’t made it to the polls yet..

i asked her if she knew who she was going to vote for… she told me she didnt know any of the candidates locally or nationally.. but her parents told her to just check the box for republican

i swear this is how about 70% of my state votes…

    its very annoying…

Do you hav a fav Eng team or just a casual watcher(n)?

Do you know who Emile Heskey is and the kind of player he is etc?

^casual … and I’m an American … so of course I root for Man U.

I don’t know much about Heskey, other than he was an English international, plays for Villa, and that I read something about him in some article you posted a few days ago.

No. The Republicans have to play the game now instead of being completely obstructionist on EVERY policy from the WH. With them controlling the house, they basically fall into the Clinton trap, where now their actions are heavily scrutinized by the media, and any failure on their part to provide solutions instead of excuses and outright lies will lead to them losing this majority and Obama being re-elected.

its just that most of the time, even afterthe fact, it feels like nothin is different. at least in my everyday life, but taxes, social programs, etc are important

If they want to choose for a national election. It’s going through Boehner and McConnell…

^I’d say its more likely to go through Karl Rove or Ed Gilespie, than those two … they are very unpopular politicians.

The architects of 2000 and 2004 will be the major movers and shakers in the Republican Primary for 2012.

Crazy to think campaigning will start in 4 months or so …

    ^

You think Rove and Gilespie have more power than mcconnell and boehner?…they’re strategist…the money rolls through mconnell and boehner…

Repubs didn’t even listen to rove on o’donell and a couple other candidates this time out..Yeah they’re unpopular but their influence is second to none.

^Yesterday I spent like 20min lecturing my co-worker/friend about voting after he said he wasn’t going to.

Finally he relents and does during lunch … then proceeds to tell me he knew nothing about anyone so he voted all Republican.

I was so pissed at myself.

You gotta Know the Ledge, word to William Griffin.

Having an understanding of who our country works is essential knowledge to knowing how to exploit it. Being able to talk politics with others is a great skill to have when moving in more “affluent” social circles, and can often get you access to people, places, and events you would not normally be invited to.

But your Jewish… Ya’ll control most of the worlds wealth anyway. You don’t give a fuck.

I mean, this scenario that is happening with Obama happened during Clinton’s first presidency- Won the popular vote, attempted to pass policies that were neccessary but unpopular, lost the house to Republicans, and then spent the next two years shitting on the Gingrich and the rest of the House until people realized that “hey, Clinton has been doing his fucking job the entire time– the republican lead house has been stopping business”– this in turn led to Clinton’s popularity soaring again and easily winning his second election. He banked that, balanced, the budget (because of policies enacted early in his 1st term), which led to the prosperity we enjoyed til Bush entered office and drove it all into the ground.

    ^
Rove is a fox news commentator, he’s not in government. some Tea party members are almost leaving him for dead. He has influence but not the power that boehner or Mcconnell has. He has a much better eye on who can win what districts but as far picking candidates he won’t have that kind of power. Rove is much more establishment and that even conflicts with palin and tea party members.

These are the people who would vote for Sarah Palin, or believe in Death Panels, or keep sending letters to Hawaii to get a copy of Obama’s birth records. The LCD of our country have the loudest voice, but thats NOT the one people should be listening to.

    ^^

In most cases, yea. Most major legislation is enacted on a rolling basis, and implemented throughout the years. Some (such as the bailouts and bushes tax cuts/refunds) were enacted immediately. For example, we are not really going to see the effects of the Health Care Bill for another couple of years, although some parts have already been made active. Thats why all the Rebublican talk of repealing the bill is impossible– too many other part of legislation would be affected by that one act… Yet people still fell for it.
