  6. &What?! Says:

exactly. I hate opening my UGK album and only seeing International Players anthem… so I HAVE to DL the rest of it.

And a lot of times I’ll make up album names just to group my shit better. Like my 2 albums of Lupe Fiasco strays since the Cool Dropped.

Word, I hate when you see somebody else’s iPod and they got it all unorganised, the genre, artist, song name etc are all messed up and they ain’t got any album art so it looks shitty. iPod OCD is a problem.

DL the mixtapes, they are probably better anyway.

  8. Slumbilical Says:

Saigon getting upstaged by Jay Elec is a classic battle-of-the-weedcarriers scenario. Just Blaze got bored and said “I’ll never get rich on this nicca Sai. NEXT.” Rap game is tough, kids.

  9. Harlem World Says:

Saigon got caught up in label limbo at Atlantic..but in all honesty, sometimes labels sign artists to shelve them so other labels cant make money from them.

im not too sure to be honest, bare in mind the major execs at Island/Universal jumped to ship to Warner

maybe they could overtake them in the “contemporary urban music market” but all the majors got different depts for each genre

Sony’s not really focused on hip hop anymore

^I’ve considered a system similar to this just have artist folders and then below that have whatever folders are applicable but with so much music it’s just too much work. I’m really anal (none) about the tags on my music it’s all Hip-Hop/Rap not hip hop not rap none of that shit. I’ve noticed from downloading some of your stuff that you like to have Hip-Hop (Chicago) or (East Coast)

  71. why? Says:

I been downloading music for 10 years. Fuck you if you never had your hard drive wiped out at least once. Lucky bastards… Everything goes into my documents. The torrent downloads and zip downloads already have their own folders. Overall I got at least around 11,000 altogether on two computers.

  73. Charles Oakley Says:

Yeah i break down my my genres into regional styles. Hip Hop (Chicago)/(East Coast)/(Midwest)/(South), makes it easier to make a playlist with similar songs.

^Don't bother ripping from youtube at anything above 128kbps because thats what the videos are encoded at so a higher bit rate just makes the file bigger it doesn't actually improve the sound quality. As far as bitrates go, you can do FLAC which is perfect but the songs are at least 25 mb, 320 or V0 (which is around 245kbps) are to two most common bitrates.

  135. why? Says:

I used to rip youtube videos but then I would find a better quality edited rip on the blogs so just gave up.

    I downloaded a youtube ripping software from google, and it gives you the choice of quality and the presets are;

    MP3 – Economy Quality (64 Kbps, 22050 Hz, Mono)
    MP3 – Old Standard 128 (128 Kbps, 44100 Hz, Stereo)
    MP3 – Old Standard 192 (192 Kbps, 44100 Hz, Stereo)
MP3 – Standard Quality – (VBR, 48000 Hz, Joint Stereo)
MP3 – Extreme Quality – (VBR, 48000 Hz, Joint Stereo)
    MP3 – Insane Quality – (320 Kbps, 48000 Hz, Joint Stereo)
