No magazine based in NY is doing 10 page dedications to The Chronic (one of the most influential hip hop albums ever) but The Blueprint..no problem

ny hip hop fans are biased, i dont even know if they realise it

  117. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

Niggas only want what they like or agree with to succeed.. even when the success or failure has no personal effect on them.
    =========================================
    Not true.

Like in Flocka’s case, I didn’t purchase his album cause I feel it’s trash.

But I can’t knock dude for trying to come up nor can I hate on those who choose to listen to it.

I just know I don’t fuck with it.

  118. Heroine Headliner Says:

    How’s everyone doing tonight?

  119. Marv Says:

Why is nah denying sales to Nelly for?

    Put his new video up….

Nahright is really on some shit….

    ========================================
    Don’t generalize.

Cause I fuck with alot of music from out of town.
My little will hate on an artist if he’s from anywhere but NY but on the same note, he’s a 2Pac stan and can listen to Pac shit 24/7 and be good.

He only listens to Pac & when I get on him for being stuck in 96, he always tells me this new Hip-Hop doesn’t move him.

I have no choice but to respect him cause I know exactly what he means.

  121. fuck boy music Says:

anybody seen those pics of richard jefferson on mediatakeout?

I don’t think Pill is trash or anything like that…he’s ok.

    true

but why the disdain for Pimp C tho…..excellent producer, decent rapper, legendary persona

  124. Hopp Says:

” Not only that but seeing somthing from someone elses point of view is always interesting. ”

    I’m sayin’, tho.

  125. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

    ======================================
Some cats don’t get certain artists and they prolly never will.

Even though I have my favorites, I can sorta find a way to respect any artist who is able to put his words together well enough to make money off of it.

But just cause I respect it doesn’t mean I gotta like every thing that’s out there. Especially dumb shit like Flockaveli.

  126. fuck boy music Says:

Nelly is on my top 25 rappers of all time….IMO….

Nelly sold a lot of records….all his albums went multi platinum…we talking about 5x’s or 8x’s platinum..

Nelly sold records with out beef or publicity stunts though

Is that you Pau Gasol? Yes? Well fuck off…

Onyx > Waka. Even if they make the same kind of music. The Onyx cats made some kind of effort on the mic (probably because they’d have no hope without that in their era), while Waka proudly makes no effort whatsoever.

Still, Flockaveli is a cool album for what it is.

  129. fuck boy music Says:

PIMP C is a legend too.

  130. cypher Says:

Btw whatever happened to Kelly Rowland?…

    Kelly >>> Beyonce

^It’s not even just people from NY, put people that grew listening to primarily NY rap music. I’ve been guilty of it to a degree myself in the past.

  132. fuck boy music Says:

Nelly is more World wide known that KRS…and Nelly has sold more records than KRS…

Nelly has more money that KRS…

GTFOH think Nelly went at KRS for publicity…Nelly more popular that that big nose ugly nigga…

    Country Grammar is a classic…

Dilemma – Nelly = GOAT NELLY SONG

  133. cypher Says:

Gucci used to be real.. then that nigga went to jail fuck around and read/overheard some inspirational shit. And decided to try to reach for the stars and go mainstream..smfh

    Aint Wocka outselling him?

But these people have a right to be biased.

90’s era East Coast Hip-Hop >>>>> everything else.

    This is FACT.

  136. Hopp Says:

Being stupid is what’s cool in music for ’10.

  137. D_Block_4_Life Says:

    decent rapper,

Just not compelling to me and he’s too average of a rapper not to be compelling…

    Bun > Pimp

  138. Harlem World Says:

    KRS 1 is a legend..

But if he calls Nelly’s name out in an interview, Nelly has every right to defend his brand. As a man and as a business.

GTFOH with that you can’t disrespect a legend shit.

Krs 1 dont feed his kids, pay his bills etc.

  139. Deen Says:

But these people have a right to be biased.

90′s era East Coast Hip-Hop >>>>> everything else.

    This is FACT.

    ^^^^

Agreed. I love all kinds of rap and always have, but from a purely artistic standpoint NY/90’s Hip-Hop just sounds better to me.

And that’s not an opinion based on the music I was listening to when I started getting pussy. Even if I’ve been getting pussy since the 90s…

  140. cypher Says:

90′s era East Coast Hip-Hop >>>>> everything else.

    ^
Maybe.. but the 90’s had its share of fuckery going on.

Sometimes when you look about the past you forget the flaws…

Then again MySpace and Youtube done gave way to many niggas a voice.. i refuse to believe that the amount of weirdos increased in the last decade. I think mfs just didnt have internet

  141. Hopp Says:

” But if he calls Nelly’s name out in an interview, Nelly has every right to defend his brand. As a man and as a business. ”

    Fair enough.

  142. D_Block_4_Life Says:

Fav Bamma LP’s of the decade in no order:

    Straight Outta Cashville
    Carter II
    TM: 101
    DTR
    TD
    The Inspiration
    Paper Trail
    The Recession
    Carter III
    The Fix
    Made
    King

  143. hl Says:

I love 90’s NY rap. I still listen to it all the time. But I like other shit too.

  144. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

Get Rich Or Die Trying is a Bamma classic.

  145. Hopp Says:

” i refuse to believe that the amount of weirdos increased in the last decade. I think mfs just didnt have internet ”

For this one chain of thought, tho, it’s actually way deeper than music.

  146. Hopp Says:

Deeper Than Rap, Paper Trail and The Recession are all great albums.

  147. fuck boy music Says:

nelly is a legend for sure.

his platinum album and first week sales bring him into rapper legend discussion.

  148. cASHMERE cAVALLI aka sNOWbUNNY sAMPSON Says:

Bun B’s decent from being an superior rapper to recycling the same verse for the past 3 years is saddening

  149. Harlem World Says:

    this is weird to me…

NY critics claimed Nas was done after I Am, called him a sell out after Nastradamus.

NY dj’s would hate on LA based rappers, if you requested What Would You Do, How Do You Want It etc, theyd say they dont have that record..how can you not have a record thats on heavy rotation everywhere else?

same NY critics who gave Doe or Die 3.5 mics are now doing 10 year dedications to it? I dont get it!

  150. D_Block_4_Life Says:

Deeper Than Rap, Paper Trail and The Recession are all great albums.
    ^
Don’t know if I’d call Recession great, but I won’t call you crazy either…heavy co-sign on DTR & PT.

  151. Hopp Says:

” Bun B’s decent from being an superior rapper to recycling the same verse for the past 3 years is saddening ”

    But not surprising.

    ==================================
    What NY critics?

Cause alot of em liked I Am (more then me anyway).

And Nastradamus wasn’t a sellout move.

It was a bad move altogether.

  156. Hopp Says:

So Scott Storch is back for good, I see.

there were a lot of talented southern artist not getting heard and dropping timeless music during that decade

  158. Hopp Says:

    ” Don’t know if I’d call Recession great ”

Maybe our definition of great differ.

Word to someone here on the c-section sayin’ Common ain’t great.

An * all white stare * is deserved for a statement like that, but still.

  159. fuck boy music Says:

I stan for Nelly hardbody…..That nigga is a musical genius….He sold more records than Jay-Z too….
