Had to be one of the most corny rap videos made in recent memory, songs cool though. Barker’s a talented dude

  3. WULU Says:

Why did Wiz spit an old verse from his mixtape with Curren$y during the cypher. That shit doesn’t sit well with me. I reluctantly let it slide when cats go on there with obvious prewritten verse, but to this I just gotta throw my hands up

BECAUSE HE’S WACK!!! This isn’t rocket science. When your whole fucking gimmick is to rap about weed in melody, then eventually you run out of shit to say. Thats what the fuck happened. Mescudi was right– Everybody ain’t Hov, man. Everybody ain’t got the magic.

    Fuck Wiz.

  11. Hopp Says:

But more importantly … What the fuck was that Waka performance …

I just finished my masters in Project Management, the over the summer I did Prince2, PPSO,ITIL,IAQ and the iseb BA course…long processes.

I hear all this talk about hip hop dead, but I can’t agree with you.

Yeah, niggas need to stop dressing like bitches, and quit with the over the top homo shit, it is disgusting.

But when ye, in particular, is putting out music like the latest CRS cut, damn near all those good friday joints, we have niggas that rap about weed, cuz lets face it, all the nigga does is smoke weed. If he blows 10k a month on weed, I don’t expect him to rhyme about shit else. Thats his lane, let him rock.

I don’t think Hip-hop is dead, but I do think Hip-hop is dead TO me. Their is no more balance in the music. The underground artists are confused, the mainstream artists are confused, and the all are trying to pander to children, who don’t know what the fuck they want.

As far as Good Fridays, some have been good, some have been bad, most have been mediocre. Its still something to look forward to, but the music that has released hasn’t been ipod worthy for the most part, imo.

Diversity was NEVER the issue. you wanted to dance? Niggas had straight booty music like Tag Team and the So So Def All-stars to play in the club, and that was cool, too. Now? Everybodies doing the same shit– niggas is hopping trends instead of trying to set trends, which has been what hip-hop has always been for me. I ain’t never considered “hip-hop” to only be niggas like Mos, Kweli, etc– thats Elitist bullshit with most of them “1000 syllable/hyper-miricle/individuals” rappers pandering to their own LCD crowd. Whatever speaks to you is real hip-hop, plain and simple. Problem for me is, nobody out is currently speaking me. even it it worked out for him, it gave the game an L..

the best should ALWAYS aspire to be the best… Jay dont wanna be the best, he just wanna be the richest…

and because of his former greatness, and his recent financial prosperity, everyone wanna follow his blueprint (so to speak)…

but niggas is getting lost trying to follow the camel…
    ^^

A Camel will lead you to water, but will drink it all up himself…

What Land is saying is true, though.

The very second Camel began pandering to the LCD crowd (In My Lifetime Vol. 1, Exec prod. by Sean Combs) it was a wrap. He wasn’t even the most famous rapper then, but him, along with Nasir (he can’t be left out, cuz he was doing the same thing, word to You Owe Me) began dumbing their shit down in order to brag about the money and the sales. That was always Camel’s crutch– I sell more records than you, which means I’m better. Biggie was the first to bring it up, and Camel took that ball and only fumbled it briefly to Curtis when Camel was attempting to be artsy with Blueprint and beyond… Now, he’s back mentioning that shit like is all good.

lyrics is what hiphop is based upon..

if niggas dont care about lyrics they should be pop stars or singers… or actors…

using you as an example (sweartogod no shots)

when i first heard your songs it was pop based and more melodic… i didnt hate it, but it wasnt my lane (or some others lanes either)… but when i (and others) heard you spit straight bars, it was like, “now THATS wtf im talmbout…”..

that myth that lyrics aint that important in hiphop, is a purely a myth…

you might catch a niggas attention for a sec with a hot beat or hook, but that shit becomes forgettable after a few spins..

niggas NEVER forget ill lyricism though…

Man, me and my homie was talking about lyrics yesterday and our writing process. I explained that I normally have three notebooks with me at one time, usually to write down the freestyle I do after developing a topic, then another to write down the 2nd freestyle I do. I compare both, then begin writing based on my mindset. My homie, who from the south (but is college educated) talked about doing the same thing, but in a different format. He told me about a nigga in his area that just dropped a mixtape, and mentioned some of the lines to me–the one that stood out is: “I’m fly like Peter Pan”– and I immediately told him that nigga was wack. My nigga told me, though, that he is getting a lot of love in the city for the actual songs on the project, because he is talking about relatable shit. His point was that why the guy himself may not be a good rapper or take his craft seriously, he does have the ability to articulate his point of view. I think sometimes that gets lost when your talking about music.

This is NOT true,RJ stop co-signing bullshit. In the golden era there was so much talent that niggas actually copped cd’s on gp. It was rare that you got burned like today where you get 2 or 3 joints and a bunch of trash filler cuts. You had so much originality and creativity back then it was ridiculous. Fuck is yall talking bout? What years do yall consider golden? The last two years ? I hope so,smh.

^you just don’t remember the trash. the only rappers you remember from that era are the good ones -whether you think it was the eighties or nineties.

if selling out the trunk was so revolutionary, why niggas stopped doing it?

    ^^

They didn’t stop doing it,for one. Bammas still push shit out they trunks. But if a nigga can buy one and burn it and sell your shit just like you,how do you win? You too smart to say dumb shit b. Technology BEEN killed sales. A DVD/CD burner cost like $40 dollars.

political power and financial independence is inevitable because hiphop made it the goal.

    money > rap/hip hop

I can’t feed my kids classic albums, gold/platinum plaques or grammy awards.

    give me the money.

    ^

but what is the purpose of art? and why do ppl always talk about feeding their kids. kids are not expensive to raise most of our parents and parents parents did it just fine with very little.

this is the problem wit capitalism, that evrything becomes a commodity. the value of anything in society is its cost, this is a poisonous way of thinking and it’s already infected hip hop.

these rappers first allegiance is not to the art, it’s to sales, show money, endorsements. the fuck kind of artist is that? thats a corruption, thats a death imo.

everyone on this damn website wants to be so unique and say this listen to this underground lyrical rapper and this revolutionary rapper that says this and that but seriously though, why does it matter how the person is getting the message across as long as he’s getting the message across in the first place! in this world we need positive messages FUCK lyrics i dont give a fuck how you say something if its the right thing to say in the first place! tell it like it is! people talk shit about plies all the time but do you think they hear some of the real shit he speaks in his songs like “why you hate me” or “letter to the industry” “100 years” i don’t give a fuck what anyone says about jay z, he could never have as much pull in this world as a person like tupac because jay z is not a revolutionary figure, that’s why pac was better then biggie any day of the week because pac was a intellectual person who spoke on real issues affecting our community, jay z just has a shit load of money but i bet he dont have murals of him in africa and all over the world and shit like pac. you see my point here is that sometimes its not about lyrics but the message, imagine everyone being mad at martin luther king for not being super creative with what he’s saying? lol who gives a flying fuck, if your preaching positivity UNLIKE waka flocka then i dont give a shit if your an immortal technique lyrical rapper, just say that shit however you want to. now if your a rapper like waka talking nothing but BULLSHIT then get your lyrics up or get a better message for your songs, your destroying or youth your uneducated rapping losers..
