Vado on Slime Flu

Vado spoke to MTV’s RapFix blog and brought up a few interesting tidbits about the long-awaited Slime Flu project that was initially supposed to be a mixtape with DJ Drama and then became a full-length album coming out on E1 Music on October 12th.

Below Vado reveals that he’ll be putting out a “Slime Flu” mixtape with DJ Drama after the release of the album, and that it will be followed by Boss of All Bosses 3 with both Cam and Drama.

How did Drama feel about not doing it anymore?
Drama’s my dude. I’ll have a Slime Flu in stores but after that comes out I’m putting out a Slime Flu with Drama, definitely, and then we putting out Boss of All Bosses 3 with Drama.

The one Drama will produce will have different music?
Definitely. We got over 100 songs, we work every day. I’m leaking songs every week, and those not even on the album. I keep saying album, I mean mixtape.

Vado goes on to explain that songs started getting taken off the project once E1 got involved, mainly due to sample clearance issues (seeing as it was going to be sold in stores now,) and why the track list ended up being completely different than what fans were expecting.

Did you do anything different with Slime Flu once E1, who’s distributing the project, got involved?
Songs have been off and on the mixtape for almost a year. It’s just been like, put this on take this off, put this on, take this off. Originally the songs for Slime Flu was “Large On The Streets,” “I Got Em,” “Kick in the Door,” “Memory Lane,” “Hard in the Paint” freestyle, for the Drama street version. A lot of songs that are out, the samples couldn’t get cleared so I ended up switching up a lot of songs.

Was that frustrating?
Definitely. It was frustrating because I’m like, ‘this mixtape’s gonna be a classic!’ Then I’m taking songs off that can’t get cleared. I’m like ‘oh don’t do this to me.’ Cam calling me five in the morning, you gotta come to the studio and fix this. Then I’m listening to my other tracks, putting those and thinking now I done got it back to the point where I’m like it’s a classic again, I feel good about it. Then we can’t get it cleared. I’m like, ‘oh producers acting up. Oh man, don’t do this to me.’ So it’s been crazy. I know I been having people wait so long, that’s why I’m gonna keep hitting ya’ll with music until it comes out. I want people to get tired of waiting.

He goes on to explain the hold up of the U.N. album (Gunz N Butta,) reasonably addresses the XXL fiasco, talks about the term “Slime”/N.O.R.E.‘s role with it and then gives the same politically correct answer about the Dipset reunion that everyone’s tired of hearing.

This makes it sound more serious than it actually was, I saw the video.

    ^^^^

When you make a shitty mixtape, no one cares about the mixtape. But when you make a shitty album, people stop caring about YOU.

Dear Eskay and the good folks of Nah…
The only reason I frequent your site is because of the comments section.
I do not care about Pill, Fashawn, Chiddy Bang, Donnis, Kidz in the Hall or Yelawolf.
90% of the content you upload is dull, boring and frankly irrelevant.
    RapRadar >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Your posts.
Worldstar >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Your posts (in terms of entertainment and relevancy).
Please fix this. It never used to be like this. Hire some more staff, do some more research, expand the artists you put on your site, do something different.
Otherwise you’re going to end up being the Vh1 of this blogging world.
And once your commentors decide to leave, you’ll be finished.

    OH AND THE ADS SUCK!
    Sincerely,
    The peoples of the internets

I was surprised at how quickly eskay answered an email I sent him some weeks back. Granted, it was a technical glitch rather than me whining about something.

As for elitism / the C-section… some people on the internet don’t like you. Time to slit your wrists, I guess?

  14. Smooth Says:

    Nah are ignoring their customers….

    This a BAD thing…for any business…

See this is how i know your not smart. this is chess not checkers. there is NOTHING special about the comment section itself. its just a regular comment section, where you type and submit your comment. The thing that is special is the people that are IN the comment section. Once these people find a new way to converse, or a new blog to use, they will leave here and migrate. just like myspace, everyone migrated to facebook…its got nothing to do with Nahright the website itself, just the people that happen to be here. And these people are going down by the day anyway (r.i.p Cold)

Smooth is right though… it will happen, it won’t completely shut the site down… but eventually another site will come along, and who knows alot of cats might jump ship… FACT: The average user logs onto Nahright for an average of less than 18 seconds before going to another website! That’s not good… that shows that the site is failing to gain the interest of the 1st time visitor
