It’s funny because I was just about to leave a comment in the last post about how I dig that “Goodfelllas” track a few threads back. Not a big fan of his music but I dig that. If the album has more of THAT feel, I’d buy it.

  3. Troyvul Says:

But I kinda understand. His debut album would still be on the shelf, even if he stayed with D-Block.But I kinda understand. His debut album would still be on the shelf, even if he stayed with D-Block.

^crack music certified his genius. and so does good fridays. his influence has brought on the hipsters, but he also is bringing music back.

^its a damn shame too… artists coulda BEEN releasing new music every week… it builds anticipation like nothing else.. and hes putting it out FOR FREE…

this is the new marketing model… because you cant stop an album from leaking anymore.. its impossible… but now he still has control on how the music is put out…
    ^^

This “marketing model” isn’t new. Everyone from Crooked I to Freeway to Jay Rock have done put out loads of music for free. This whole thing about artists NEEDING to release free music is bullshit, though. Artists have now realized that mixtapes are ruining their own buzz, as artists were being forced to release album quality mixtapes in order to compete, and by the time their album came out, people were comparing it to the mixtape, instead of judging it on its own merits (See: 50 Cent- War Angel/BISD) Independent/emerging/underground artists can’t afford that shit if they hope to build a career– Kanye can do that because he’s beyond established; hes an instituation (sorta like how Radiohead gave out their album for free, or whatever people wanted to pay for it)

As far as Good Friday, most of the songs have ranged from self-serving to mediocre, but the name value creates anticipation like none other. If Joe 88 said he was gonna do Broadway Fridays, would any of you care? Would that help him become a bigger artist?

    ——————————————-
Well, if your talking about albums, then those come out on the label’s time. Most artist want their music out ASAP.

    2. the anticipation builds even more ‘fans’ if you will, for kanye’s music.
    ——————————————————-
The majority of people checking for Good Friday music are either a) Kanye Stans, or b) people who want to see if Kanye can return to the level of music he was making before Swiftgate.

And i could be wrong but crooked took this idea from kanye…
    ————————————————-
Your definitely wrong. Crooked, Freeway, Jay Rock, and Young Chris (among others) have completed weekly (or daily) music series. Even Gorilla Zoe did 28 days worth of mixtapes earlier this year.

    For contractual purposes, they are.

    Even Vado understands this.

Why would anybody be mad at Vado?

“Real rap, judging from this interview it doesn’t sound like a whole lotta love between Vada and the original Dips.”

I don’t see how you got that from this vid. The nigga Vado said it was all love mad times.

^ Nah, that was smart on his part. Why? Because he has NO brand. Wayne is the only reason why he’s not on a milk carton. His boss is in jail and he need to remind people that he’s signed to YM because no one really cares. Plus all weed carriers promote their bosses albums. He playin’ his position.

  53. RIGZ Says:

  54. D. Billz Says:

I don’t see how you got that from this vid. The nigga Vado said it was all love mad times.

^ And that convinced you? Look at that nigga’s body language and the pause before he said it. He has to fix his thoughts to convey the right message. I aint an expert, but I’m still payin’ off this Communications degree. Example: If Jae Millz wasn’t present on the set and they asked Vado about Millz, his whole tone would’ve been, “Oh that’s my nigga! That’s slime right there. You know we go way back… ” etc etc etc. Jimmy is a dirtbag yo. He has been wantin’ to be the “leader” since Max and Stacks put those batteries in his back. I wish ’em the best, but I doubt this goes far.

    ^^

And I’m bitching? Because I don’t think any of that Good Friday music is amazing? Its overindulgent tripe designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator- the KDF. Overproduced Circe’ De’ Soilel festival music. He threw regular niggas a bone with DIAND, and Pusha brings an edge to the GOOD music roster, but to make it seem like Kanye has revolutionized ANYTHING at this point is falsehood. So like I said, stan harder playboy.
