Naledge – Twenty Something (Mixtape)

In hip-hop nowadays, it seems as though no age group is off limits. As more and more of our favorite rappers get older and older, the spotlight still remains on whoever manages to make the hottest songs. Naledge reached out to us a few months ago with the interest in having illRoots present his next solo mixtape, the well rounded Twenty Something with DJ Moondawg. A really great project with features from Freddie Gibbs, Skyzoo, GLC, Murs, Mikkey Halsted and others.

Track list and download link after the jump.

@ Free J..Imma keep it 100 with you, take notes if you serious.

    1) You did the right thing by putting a video up on Youtube. You get feedback from one of the most visited sites in the world, so you showed you not stupid. You passed the 1st test by showing initative.

    2) The next step is to make REAL fans, by performing, so go hound local promoters.

3)You rhyming over RHCP sample. This automatically makes you an alternative rapper. Your potential fanbase will be college kids who like both hip hop and rock, not underground hip hop heads.

    4) You live in VA and you 22 right? Intern at q94. It should help you build up contacts and an understanding of how radio works.

    my 2 cents…

Yo b-ease do remember the title of that Spin article on Eminem and hip hop fans you mentioned last week when we were discussing Em’s place in rap?

    Thanks.

@HW – def. appreciate that fam and thats my thing im def. gonna take the advice and see if i can do the intern thing. I def. need to perform on stage and its funyn u peeped who im tryin to reach cuz i was raised around white ppl(noshots) so i kno im marketable and can market myselfs to that crowd easily.

only reason i even promote that shit here is cuz im not tryin to get cocky and i kno niggas give they honest opinions but i kno for a fact if i released some shit i have saved…it wont get me signed but i’ll def. get that respect hands down

if you’re not the social type, that like to fake smile and hold conversations with people… Are you limiting your chances of success. Like I know networking is all apart of the game, but I just can’t bring myself to speak to people I generally don’t like on GP. My Plan is to have a front man to handle all that bs for the kid tho.

  12. Free J Says:

Not that I’m the nigga to be given advice… But if the abstract rap is your passion, then that’s the lane u should stay in… In other words do everything u can to keep improving, try to come up with new ways to present the music, be as innovative and as abstract as u can be… U shouldn’t try to appease the naysayers, but make them believers y’mean…
    ^^^

before i disappear…no i def. agree wit u have a multitude of styles lol so its not even really about pleasing anyone more that myself. at the end of the day fuck tryin to save hip hop im tryin to live comfortably this shit is cool and all but seriously im tryin to get paid.

the lyrical side of me and every other thing i do is more a confidence in my own ability to write some classic shit, wait til i post these next couple of songs, i’ll send u one later on today along wit GW and Jihad

^ Yes, you are limiting yourself.

    >>Like I know networking is all apart of the game, but I just can’t bring myself to speak to people I generally don’t like on GP. My Plan is to have a front man to handle all that bs for the kid tho.

^ Right, but you gotta start doin’ all your own socializing first before you have someone working for you so that they know what to expect.

    It’s beaches in Delaware?

lol, apparently so. I was just as surprised as you.

  18. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

I’m not sure how the topic was brought up, but it’s WAY better to know someone yourself than know someone through another guy. I’m not even sure it’s useful for you to know someone through another person. I know I’d back out of helping a friend’s friend. How is that guy gonna help me?
