Video: Lauryn Hill Interview w/ MTV News Pt. 2

Lauryn talks about her “jazz-like” live shows to MTV. I had to watch some footage before posting it and can tell you, as someone who knows The Fugees catalog inside-out, that shit was hot-trash. She chalks it up to spontaneity and improvisation. Yeah, no shit.

    And this is not a diss, but when u sit back and really think about it, music wise, dude has not release anything major in years…and i am not even talking about radio hits, look at jay electronica, he released a mass hit that was accpeted by all, but you will be hard press to name a song that nas has released that mattered, he gets a HUGE pass by us who listened in the 90’s but other than that dude is ???????????

    ^ I think he’s been trying to make more of a polictial statement with his past 2 albums rather than incite mayhem at clubs. People who think on a different level arent much inclined to doing the wacka flack dread head bang. So with that being said… I’ll say “they shooting”.

    And I know what ice is getting at so, Ill say it for him… Jays last song that had the country singing along was Empire State of Mind. Which happens to be blantant swackery from Nas’ NYSOM.

    Who gives a fuck? He doesn’t, neither do i!!! I don’t listen to MC’s for popularity or popularity contests, nor I do care about what bumps on the radio b/c I haven’t listened to the radio in years, and the only time I like what is bumpin in a club is when an 80’s 90’s mix gets the drop… Hip Hop sold the fuck out a long time ago! Respectable artists don’t have to have top 40 hits… they need to make good, complete albums which Nas does better than anybody else. FROM START TO FINISH!!!

    Jay electronica didnt have a club banger, but he dropped a song that mattered, my question is what is the last song that nas dropped that mattered to hip hop fans on an internet level or street level, when is the last time nas had a song and other mcs jumped on it and tried to freestyle against it, as far as political stuff, when is the last time nas spit sumthin that u did not already know, people swear nas drops gems, but what in his music about race relations or whatever did you already not know.

    The point is you cant, i asked you to name any song that he has made recently that was dope, not a radio or a club song, but a dope song that people like as a whole and spoke on

    Dude got major spin on the largest hip hop station in america and i live in fl and they played that song heavy, so yes he did cross over

    @Iceberg

    FOH with that Jay Elec bullshit. Average people don’t even know who JE is homie. Exhibit C was a blog/internet and hip hop head hit,not mainstream. And making a pop/hit record has no bearing on skills. Carry on with that bankrupt ass argument of yours.

    ^ his guest appearances have all been crazy… And like I said he’s been making music more to make a statement. Some niggas race to the finish line, others not so much… Dollars to dogshit, this next solo album will make you question your Hov catalog.

  16. cOLD Says:

    ice must’ve forgot about Nas wanting to shake pop fans off. Who does that.

    The point is that’s something you care about & most “success” & “popularity” hip hop fans care about bruh…. not me… I got plenty of Nas songs that still get rotation to this day… Queens Get The Money, Breathe, Testify, Project Roach, Fried Chicken, Still Dreamin, Let There Be Light, so on & so on… and for me that’s cool! I know everytime Nas drops I’m getting something dope… And when this new LP drops… watch you will get something EPIC pimp!
