Yeah, the new Big Boi did just under 60k IIRC. That’s pretty good considering the lack of a huge single. By comparison B.o.B. had a number one single and another in the top 5 and only did 80k. And he did better first week than guys like Timbaland, the Clipse, and I think better than Snoop Dogg, too.

And yeah, there are only 6 guys in rap that can sell more than 200k first week nowadays: Ye, Jay, T.I., Wayne, Em, Drake. I think an OutKast LP would do well if a new one ever got released, though.

I’m probably in the minority on this, but I LOVE the singing on the song, and in J. Cole’s work in general. It’s good like early Kanye songs where he sung the hook, or like another poster mentioned Nas’ Poppa Was a Playa.

yeah. im a huge lupe fan, but im kinda glad he passed on it…only because B.O.B killed it..I think BOB brought an energy to it that Lupe wouldn’t have. Lupe may have dented the commercial appeal of the song…B.O.B kept it simple and just brought the energy without complex lyrical content. and thats y it was hit. Nothin on you was targeted at 15 year old girls, which is who BOB targets when looking for a hit..Lupe targets Coldplay fans when he wants a top 10 hit, not 15 year old girls (word to Superstar).

I hear you on that. I dunno if Cole will ever be a trend setter like Kanye [something tells me he doesn’t have the gusto or vision for that- we all know Ye doesn’t care if people get mad at him, lol], but as long as he doesn’t follow trends and just does him that’s all I need.

I sort of agree with this. I think with that monster of a hook/beat Nothing On You would have been a pop hit no matter what Lupe/B.o.B rapped on it, kind of like how girls like Dead And Gone without listening to T.I.’s lyrics.

But yeah, by keeping the lyrics [and I’d argue flow too] simpler than Lupe would have done B.o.B did make it a more accessible song.

I think he even said he’s finished making Lasers, too. It’s in the label’s hand and their just figuring out what to do with it.

Maybe he should check his ego and just sign with a big rapper’s vanity label or something. His fan base is larger than Cudi, Big Sean, and even B.o.B’s, and they all have albums that will get released. Maybe he can get with GOOD Music or something.

im not sure i understand what that JCole track was about though. He called it premeditated murder so I aumed he would go in about how cold he is…but it seems like the subject matter of the song is all about a girl he used to be with, wants to be with or girls who want him now, same things that drake talks about. And then he’s singing about where he’s from it can’t get any better….? but it has nothing to do with “premeditated murder”. AT ALL. And he said he knew he’d kill the game but he has yet to kill or even harm anything. If this was an essay and the topic was premeditated murder, J.Cole would get an F immediately.

That J.Cole track gets better with every listen. Dude has made his own lane, and doesn’t make bs songs just for radio play.

It’s like FINALLY here’s an artist who actually cares about his music and takes the time to make it right instead of appearing on someone else’s remix every damn day. I’m coppin this album come October, Fk whatever u haters talkin about. I support REAL TALENT!

probably best to leave the kids at home seeing that they have to go to the bathroom a lot and buy the ”food” & drinks before the movie starts because if you leave for 5 minuets you’ll be confused for 20 minutes as to what is going on in the film….

  112. NovemberEnd Says:

besides this not a kids movie anyway….there gunfights, explosions, chase scenes that will keep their attention but there’s alot of talking & complex explanations that will probably go over their heads

What I thought. Things with kids, some of ’em ain’t even tryin’ to see a movie nowadays if it ain’t on 3D. I’m even seeing come companies getting lazy and jus’ re-releasing some titles in 3D to make some money.

I heard the movie is dope on IMAX. Confirmed ?
