Video: Nas & Irv Gotti in Queensbridge

Nas goes back to his hood to kick it with the people and Irv comes through with the liquor. Props to ICE.

After the jump, Mic Geronimo tells The Syndies that he was Irv’s first artist, Large Pro and the 90’s.

The title is B.M.F. (The REAL BMF) and Meech says quite a few things that can be interpreted as innuendo. Surely you can see why these are plausible reasons as to why someone would take this stuff as Ross slights.

I call it how I see it, Ross put out BMF and Jeezy counters with The Real BMF, its not rocket science, but Jeezy would still look suspect since him an Ross recorded a song or two together. I think it’s a little more complex than just ‘oh fuck that nigga’. Jeezy is riding Ross wave by having a song of the same namesake, whilst validating or authenticating himself to new and old fans, who may have been hearing that jeezy a snitch noise. All the while, he has himself associated and in comparison with Ross whose on fire right now. if only his version didn’t suck in comparison…

Idk, I just don’t think this is beef. *Shrugs*

Nas doesn’t give a fuck about crossing over. Hes got things he wants to say and some label has always been there to finance that expression. Mainstream dreams cannot be in your vision when you title an album Nigger. Niggaz say his concept could’ve been iLL if he had went about it a different way, but either way I don’t see suburban white mothers buying an album titled Nigger for their kids.

What is iLL is despite the nigga not releasing anything all that popular in awhile he’s still considered one of the best. if his beat selection were better in the past, this might be a different conversation. The Jr Gong Nas album was dope though.

Most 80s babys (and certainly most 90s babys) probably aren’t riding around knockin Paid In Full, but does that make Rakim less great?
For whatever reason in rap, past great artists don’t seem to continue to grow their fan base with later younger generation listeners like past greats of other genres tend to.

It may not be because we dispose of our greats (literally and figuratively I guess) but maybe because rap as a genre wasn’t anywhere near as large back then as it is now — which allows icons to be made. We lost 2 icons already — whether they’re icons because they should be or because we lost em is whole other discussion.

^You don’t even believe this. Plenty of white musical acts have done the same thing and been similarly and rightfully castigated by their fans. There seems to be two different threads to this debate. I’m talking solely about music, not Hov’s impact on the black male in AD 2010.

  436. Bricktop Says:

The level of hate for a super talented brother who elevated hisself and rappers alike (Eg, Nas) using his talents and creativity, by making some a the best business decisions (musically and otherwise), by setting the bar and paving the way for other artists to be on the same level is disheartning. How do you fault a man… A black man… One of the most succesful black men for doing what we should all aspire to do. And it’s not even about who’s a better lyricists or who makes better records(Hov>everybody IMO). It’s pure envy. What better way to disguise jealousy then to talk about how someone who may have the same range of talent but not the saavy to use to his advantage deserves it more… *KanyeShrug*

^the tradition of black people’s art is to do it for people to enjoy. only western art believes in the artist doing it for himself/herself. if art doesn’t appeal to the community most black people are not interested in it. the more selfish the art the less black people like it. the more giving and generous the art the more appeal it has to the black community. when jazz stopped being for the people, it became a white thing.

Good flick. My favourite convo was the Rza/Gza/Bill Murray one…
^Speaking of GZA, wasn’t that his song in the credits of the entourage premier?

yo im just high off this reefer, and readign that made it click. Marky Mark been liking good music and a decent amounts of weeks got people looking up who the artist was (like CH, but that ended poorly…).

Doesn’t he still blaze and shit.

  546. SeniorCivilian Says:

Ok it was Deck rapping. SMH @ me for not recognizing that.

  547. Alejandro Says:

    That was Deck not Gza.

smh @ this boondocks ep. lol

  550. SilkCityP Says:

It’s wack that hip hop is so bad that we have this everyday GOAT talk!! GOAT conversations just let you know how bad the music really is… It’s barely over 30 years old, ain’t no GOAT! It’s too early to speak on, and there are only a handful of legends and great MC’s that will even be considered

  551. SilkCityP Says:

Damn Entourage should be an hour long per episode… Dania Ramirez is a bad chic!
