Drake – Greatness x Still Got It

drake

A couple of unreleased tracks from the (unauthorized) Thank Me Now mixtape. “Greatness” includes some lines from “Stuntin” off Dedication 3, apparently “Still Got It” is a Kanye West beat (?) and “You Know, You Know,” as you might already know, is a Thank Me Later leftover.

This reminds me of sumn’ … I’m having some connection problems, but as soon as I solve ’em, Imma give that So Far Gone a listen. Depending on the result, Imma listen to the other one everyone talks about and I can’t remember the name now. About the hooks rarely failing … They failed with me. Also, 40’s only done a few songs with other dudes, but none of them really stand out as being as good as the ones with Drake, IMO. Even the Lil Wayne song, and I’m a Wayne fan. Drake’s youthful sounding voice and surface level reflection goes well with 40s vulnerable, airy sounding beats.

Comeback Season is grossly underated. The Elzi feature and the R&B tracks were NICE and Drake wasn’t rapping like Lil Wayne.

    ———————————–

His flow and punchlines are a lot snappier on Comeback Season, and there are probably more quotables, so I can see why many like it.

SFG is a bunch of songs about various thing somewhat related to his alienated fame [I know, I know] but as a whole it’s a much deeper tape, IMO.

Maybe I just need to give it a few more listens.

And cosign on looking foreword to GAL. Th youtube freestyle, his recent beats, guest verses, even Power and I’m So Appalled have me excited. But especially that snippet of the song he had with RAWSE, Monster. Sounds like it’ll be DOPE. If only the full version would leak.
