Untitled, Hiphop is Dead, Streets Disciple. . ..talk about coasters. I Am, Stillmatic, Nastradamas. . . .coaster collection. NastyNas/Escobar is the only Nas worth listening to (i.e. his first two joints). the I Am mixtape/Lost Tapes was his pinnacle. he’s shown flashes of brilliancy since then, but nothing (emphasis on the ‘nothing’ part) consistent (emphasis on the ‘consistent’ part) since then.

  6. DC (District of Chase) Says:

Reporter: So Pharell, wahts this next album about?

    Pharell: Nothing.

R: I know thats the title of the album, but what are you guys really saying, what message are you trying to convey to your fans and listeners?

    P: Nothing.

R: Ok. Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters out there?

    P: Nothing

    R: This guys a dick

  7. Shooter Says:

somebody’s trying to bring commercial success intot the debate?! Nas hasn’t been consistently commercially viable since the Lauryn Hill days.
    ^^^

nah, Gods Son had two of Nas’ biggest hits to date “Made You Look” and “I Can”, Stillmatic was a commercial success as well

Hova has the creativity of a plastic spoon.

^why do people say things that have no basis in reality? to get a reaction? desperate for attention?
    ^
seriously, what are we up to now – Blueprint 12.2? Hov got soulfull and soft-hearted simultaneously. his first 3 albums were at least cunning, though not original by any means. creativity is not dude’s strength. that’s all i was saying with that comment.

clarification: consistency=from beginning to end playability.

every one of Nas’s albums has severely lacked this quality since IWW.

  17. hl Says:

@Bricktop You don’t like Nas or Jay? Not Blueprint? Black Album? Stillmatic? wtf do you listen to?

  18. RIGZ Says:

    Bricktop…you’re wrong lol

Jay is to rap what Japan is to electronics

This is a fair statement. Since The Black Album, Jay’s only road the coattails of Kanye (’05-present) Lupe (’06), Denzel (’07), Lil Wayne/T.I. (’08), Drake (’09), etc.

It’s pretty much common knowledge that Jay’s not creative/treadsetter. He just takes a trend and makes it mainstream.

  23. Bricktop Says:

    SD was dope.
    ^
really? we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

    Untitled was good
    ^
thought it was better than SD. with that said, i’ve forced myself to listen to it from beginning to end about 12 times since it came out. i will never play this album again. IWW, Illmatic, Lost Tapes, I Am bootleg, even The Firm album will continue to get constant play until i’m dead.

This level of stannery has to stop. Seriously. It’s not good for the genre.

90’s era Queens rap. that’s about it. and Big. and Wu. and Redman’s first two.

So you can’t really listen to rap like that, because that’s way too much repetition
