    I hope the new blueprint is not to leak a whole album…the art of creating a solid album (concept or otherwise) has completely been destroyed…no artists make albums with a focused theme and message anymore…hurts the game

    do you think those are overshadowed by albums like drake’s, or bp3, or wayne’s shit?? I don’t see any newer artists really putting in a legitimate amount of effort artisticly…nas is an established gem of the game…all the b-list rappers are just trying to make the club tracks that will make them a-listers…case in point: juelz and fab…both dudes have MAD ability but consistently shoot lay-ups…imo

  29. 456 Says:

    there is niggas spittin hot shit at every level of the game. beats just got more urgent. pressure bus’ pipes.

    @456
    I guess I’m just more into the emotions that came out of the street classics from the 90’s…joints like do or die, the infamous, reasonable doubt, illmatic…that era is gone true, but i just don’t like the stuff that comes out now…it’s just privileged artists that complain about being famous

  41. the-xfacta Says:

    Got Damn!!! This fucking Nas and Jr. Gong is FIRRRRReeeeeeeeeee

    But you’re comparing current music to literally some of the best albums in the history of the genre. It’s like comparing Badu’s new album to Innervisions. Kinda high expectations.

    Am I the only one who thinks that the Mo Milli and Miss Me instrumentals sound ridiculously similar? Boi-1da gettin lazy.

    /\
    many people nowadays tho would not consider those albums the best in the history of the genre and they would consider an album like kanye’s first album a classic…which it isn’t…it’s got like 5 hot joints but it’s mostly bullshit

    Agreed. We’re finally moving out of the “hair band” era, and starting to move towards the alternative/grunge era (if we can compare it to rock). The 00’s were the weakest decade in the genre’s history, but I think we’re about to see some real phoenix shit.

    ^>sizzle, daps digi. Although, I did listen to so far gone for the first time in it’s entirety this weekend and…well…it wasn’t so bad. A couple bangers, dare I say. Wrap a hook around some bullshit bars over a knocking beat. Then wrap all that up in an image that’s appealling. The image is the most important part. Apparently, word to people buying it for the picture. I’ll let drake tell it.

    I was perusing the archives and icon said something to the effect of not wanting to give up on hiphop and date r&b exclusively. And it being the reason we’re so defensive of it. I think…I might need to run that back.
