Photo: Kanye West Resurfaces in SoHo
Kanye re-appeared on the mainland yesterday with friends Virgil Abloh and Don C and was snapped by street photographer William Yan. Later that night, people at CV Lounge got to hear 4 new tracks, as Kanye was there, along with Plain Pat and Kid Cudi in tow.
DJ Semtex said the following about what he heard from the album:
Okay, so I’ve heard the first Kanye West joint. I was sworn to secrecy. I’m not allowed to talk about it. All I can say is it is banging. If that’s a taste of what’s coming on the album, he has smacked it. Lyrically….he is saying things like, ‘Wow, he said that?’ It is going to shock everybody, the first record.
Pharrell recently spoke to a French magazine and had this to say:
I had the chance to listen to the new Kanye West album. I think that people are going to be shocked. His precedent was crazy, this new one goes even farther.

And his freestyle at the Cudi show was DOPE, and with all this time spent not rapping much [like 3 years] and all he’s experienced during the lyrics’ll be great.

The past year it’s been hard for me to find a NEW rock band that didn’t sound retro to some rock movement, that was any good. So I see where you’re coming from. I find myself only looking foreword to stuff from established bands.
I think Radiohead are gonna start releasing EP instead of albums now. It’s on wikipedia I think.

808s Kanye and Radiohead have this in common: they like to write songs from improvised live performances, then perfect them in the studio. Pretty awesome, and it works for both.
