Photo: Kanye West Resurfaces in SoHo

STREET STYLE | Kanye West

Kanye re-appeared on the mainland yesterday with friends Virgil Abloh and Don C and was snapped by street photographer William Yan. Later that night, people at CV Lounge got to hear 4 new tracks, as Kanye was there, along with Plain Pat and Kid Cudi in tow.

DJ Semtex said the following about what he heard from the album:

Okay, so I’ve heard the first Kanye West joint. I was sworn to secrecy. I’m not allowed to talk about it. All I can say is it is banging. If that’s a taste of what’s coming on the album, he has smacked it. Lyrically….he is saying things like, ‘Wow, he said that?’ It is going to shock everybody, the first record.

Pharrell recently spoke to a French magazine and had this to say:

I had the chance to listen to the new Kanye West album. I think that people are going to be shocked. His precedent was crazy, this new one goes even farther.

Spotted at KanyeLive via Amajanese. Related: Rick Ross probably did more than just one song while recording in Hawaii with Kanye.

I’m saying his production is what makes him. He’s got some dope lines, but he’s got no substance. So put him in the room with some of the best producers in the game instead of Boi-1da, and you get good music.

  36. Cypher Says:

And that’s the problem… Production should make or break an artist.. It should enhance whatever they’re talking about

This man is the last real hope for rap. Lets hope this really does come out in September 2010 and not later in 2011.

  45. Els Says:

No one is holding a gun to your head and telling you to listen to Drake or Waka or Gucci

Just don’t listen to them and move on, that simple

Hip hop is still alive, it’s just not in the same form it was 10 years ago, shit changes, things evolve, and if you don’t like the way it has changed, don’t listen. It’s not like there aren’t lyricists still out there. I’m pretty sure no one is going to doubt your hip hop head credibility if you play a Drake song right after listening to a Wu-Tang song.

Thus why GAJ is a breathe of fresh air, Kanye trying bridge a gap which is a good move

    ————————————————-

I’m starting to as well. He WILL come up with something new to add to what the producers on the LP bring [I was worried about this before]. And his freestyle at the Cudi show was DOPE, and with all this time spent not rapping much [like 3 years] and all he’s experienced during the lyrics’ll be great.

What I wonder is if this LP will be his Abbey Road, and if he’s already made his Sgt. Peppers. Either way that means it’ll be dope, it’s just a matter if it’s not as good as his other classics.

And they seemed to steal from The Bends era Radiohead more than anything [as well as those kinds of songs from OK Computer].
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

i think that’s because they cant pull off the ok comp era stuff…really no one else can do what radiohead can do. they are one of the only non hip-hop groups that i check for nowadays
    —————————————————-

No, they can’t pull of the sound. Although they do vaguely sensible lyrics even better :D.

The past year it’s been hard for me to find a NEW rock band that didn’t sound retro to some rock movement, that was any good. So I see where you’re coming from. I find myself only looking foreword to stuff from established bands.

I think Radiohead are gonna start releasing EP instead of albums now. It’s on wikipedia I think.

  116. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

Never mind, they’re working on an album.

  117. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

808s Kanye and Radiohead have this in common: they like to write songs from improvised live performances, then perfect them in the studio. Pretty awesome, and it works for both.

And on that note I’m out. I think the game’s on right now.

    Peace.

Not a fan of Drake. Rawse on the other hand, catches alot of shit because of the c.o. fiasco, despite the fact that he makes decent music. The fact that he continues to sell despite his lies just shows that people are feigning outrage, and could honestly give a shit about his past life.

    _________________________________________

When refering to more than one person, “dummy’s”, should end in IES, plural(dummies). An apostrophe is used to mark omissions and possessives. Just thought i’d point that out, while you’re trying to insult people’s intelligence(s).

As for what Biggie and Pac would’ve done: Who gives a fuck?

Tupac didn’t like alot of people, most of whom could rap better than him(Big, Nas, Prodigy, Jay, ect.). Yeah, I said it. And besides the subliminal shots, Big rarely went at anyone, and even if he did, who gives a fuck? You want to continue to dick-ride two dead rappers and hinge your taste in music on what you assume they would’ve liked? Good luck with that.

  159. sensistar Says:

sealsaa Says: You have the nerve to correct someone’s post while making your own grammatical error.

Then to top it off you make a statement that reflects complete ignorance when it comes to music.

“Tupac didn’t like alot of people, most of whom could rap better than him(Big, Nas, Prodigy, Jay, ect.).”

    1. “ect.” WTF is that. Did you mean Etc. The abbreviation etc or ETC may stand for: et cetera.

    2. Saying any of those rappers are better than Pac is just stupid.

Like you trying to correct someone while your making your own grammatical errors.

Stop it before I destroy you.

You do realize you named 3 fantasy rappers. Rappers that rapped about situations they never experienced.

    No wonder you like Ross.

  160. A Roth fan Says:

Kanye > drake…. My 4 hottest in the game not in this order bc that ish is stupid to debate are em yeezy weezy aubreezy

I say kanye > drake bc of classics on college dropout. Hot features like get em high. Classics like all falls down. Huge hits like through the wire and workout plan. Outro was so dope too. Drake had it on so far gone the 5 songs, or over 1/3 of his album, isn’t on point so far even if I can’t get the miss me chorus out of my head. Also yeezy had two of my favorite features ever with this way and that brande joint….”pulling girls off the bench like a sixth man” “before you get in that cab I’d trade in my cab to get back to last summer MAN”

drake 9 am in Dallas shows me drake is deserving of the praise and spot but he hyped
tml too much so it’s never going to meet expectations. Also epic fail for getting features like jeezy, Nikki minaj, Alicia keys…. No yeezy? One weezy track? Gtfoh I thought he was hoping to make shit that was timeless
