  41. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

    GOAT: Biggie.

King of Hip Hop: If you go by respect, Jay-Z [I’ve been convinced]. But THE game changer in hip hop right now, is Kanye West. He could shift hip hop’s current trends on his own. And while part of hip hop’s audience doesn’t like him, you’d be hard pressed to find a hip hop musician who didn’t respect him.

King of NY: Jay-Z, no contest.

King of the South: No one right now, but Jeezy’s in the best position to take it. T.I. and Wayne are too big to be identified regionally.

Best Rapper Alive: Depends heavily on criteria. But who’s the guy everyone wants a guest verse from? I won’t name it for fear of flaming…but you all kind of know who flows the best right now over pretty much any beat.

Top 5 DOA: Nas, Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye, Biggie.

    ^^
Juicy’s the only rap song my mother has ever liked.

Life After Death has been the blueprint for rap albums (for better or worse) since it dropped.

The One More Chance and Cant You See remixes are just as effective now as they were when they dropped.

He had a movie made about him.

There’s more, but to say Biggie isnt a canidate is fucking crazy talk.

  57. landlord Says:

without Puffie Combs holding his hands, Biggie would have been the overweight neighborhood weed man …

  58. mcb Says:

If Jay is still affectinig people in 2020, well talk.

  59. b-ease Says:

Em’s nowhere near the GOAT list tho.

Nas has never made an album as dope as Life After Death.

And in death, BIG is more relevant than a still breathing Rakim.

  60. cOLD Says:

Jay wasnt trying to be above the fray, I just think he’s still got love for Beans and didnt want to destroy his only means of income

^ basically, but Jay is a living confliction. 1st being hip hop denotes being free, unadulterated and carving your own lane… “I drove by the fork in the road and went straight”. But his self proclaimed face of hip hops future requires a more responsible approach. He can’t back track now.

  61. mcb Says:

Yea, and if Freddie Foxx wouldve showed up, Ra wouldve never spit.

And if Chuck hadnt met Flav, PE wouldve been a group of pretentious fucks.

Fate is fate, you cant use that to dispute greatness.

  64. landlord Says:

Biggies relevance remains BECAUSE he’s dead… and his death, and the circumstances arround his death were so sensational…. when Biggie was alive almost NO ONE was saying he was GOAT…

his influence is overrated… niggas over 30 know that biggie’s flow was already fathered … he just ran with it … but he was definitely top 5 or Ten

  68. Rey Says:

@ Ike– Not making that argument at all. Mathers isn’t on my GOAT list, and I wouldn’t expect anyone to actually think he’s GOAT material. I do think he’s a HOF’er and created his own lane, but GOAT? No. From my listening experiences tho’, he’s incredible at RHYMING, just taking words that sound the same and putting them together, sometimes one word, sometimes whole sentences. I look at it like math, like algebra, but I definitely acknowledge that that could just be how I approach it.

Fact is, I’m just as pissed at the crackers that abandoned the art form their 2nd year of college as I am at the fuckin’ idiot ass young kids that think that Drake has any skills. I can’t stand hip-hop being treated as disposable, which is partly why I DON’T ingest as much music as the majority of nahggers.. If I have to listen to 10 albums/mixtapes a month just to keep up, so much more of it will be unremarkable, disposable, just another project to plow my way thru.

I don’t know if that makes sense, but it’s what I’m thinking.
