In the early 2000s, producers were getting paid alot more though.

Timbo, Neptunes and Storch would get 300 a track..

    ^

don’t believe the hype… they were NEVVVVVER makin that

  2. NovemberEnd Says:

Naw, they really were dude. Keep in mind that until like 04, a really successful artist could still sell millions and millions or records. Nelly went diamond off Hot In Herrre, so 300K for the Tunes really doesnt seem like much when you look at it like that.
    ^^^^^^
    good point…

  3. Smooth Says:

look at scott storches lifestyle in the early 2000s..buggatis, yatches, mansions…this dude was a multi, multi millionare. we’re talking 8 figures..
now divide that by how many top 10 hits he had in that 4 year period..maybe 10?
    u do the math.

  4. Tong Po Flo Says:

    LOUCH!!

  5. Smooth Says:

u dont think 50 threw at least 300K at storch to produce his 2 lead singles of his second album (one of the most anticipated albums EVER).

  6. Smooth Says:

RedOne has made millions of the Lady Gaga singles hes produced.

  7. Troyvul Says:

Storch was a brand unto himself for a while so he was grossly overpaid as a producer. he had an amazing run.

as for some of the others like timbo and neptunes, they were making dough, but it took a while and alotta jay-z beats-amd-mentions before they started commanding THAT level of payola.

Newspapers/Magazines can publish some amazing long articles that still put most blogs to shame

    ^^
Not most, pretty much all. That’s why they’re not completely obsolete yet. Mags and papers still have better resources and for the most part, much better writers.
    —————————————————-

Yeah, you’re right. Magazine website’s like Rolling Stone, Village Voice, Vanity Fair [and the defunct Stylus] and various newspapers may fuck up the reviews, but they have better caliber writers on average and some of the special stories they do cannot be matched.

I remember Rolling Stone had one of the best articles on Britney Spears’ downfall that I ever read. Like full of info, and insight that wasn’t anywhere else. Make’s one wonder how much the saturation of media by blogs and sites with nothing new to add has fucked up the way people get their info. Then again, without the internet I’d never find the good articles, as money would get in the way.

Back in 2000 until about early 05 producers were getting paid stupid amounts for single beats. These days NOBODY is making that type of money (300k) for a beat and if they’re making in the 100k range they’re coming with the full song already done and the artist just has to fill in the holes (ll). For Jonsin, who I can guarantee won’t be in demand by this time next year (which most A&R’s know because that’s the business they’re in) he’s not making 100k every single placement he gets. He’s not.

    ===============================

Theres a difference between a regular placement and a single.
Jim Jonsin is doing Em’s first single of relapse. i guaratnee u hes gona make 6 figures of that.
now, for his BoB album placement (‘fame’)..he prolly only getting like 30k.

When labels come to ppl to Polow and Jonsin for the singles, they are expecting nothing less than a top 10 hit. So in anticipation of this, they are willing to pay 100k for the singles (eg.Beyonce – sweet dreams prod. jim jonsin)…
Theres a diff between producing a single for beyonce, and a random album cut for BOB..

  14. ODEMIC Says:

@Smooth not to mention, at the rate Storch use to churn beats out at, there were alotta beats that he did and got paid for that were never publicised.

When it became cool to shout the producer’s name and shit, people started taking notice, but he was making hits a while before that which helps account for his insane wallet.

and if your wearing Jordan’s, and your not on a ball court you lost @ life
    =======

A bit harsh but still a Co-sign. LOL

  28. bamboozled Says:

Real ballers don’t ball in Jordan’s. All real ballers know they are never the best sneaks Nike make.

Pippen’s II-IV are better than any Jordan’s for balling ever made.

If you never wore Pippen’s you have no idea how much they helped the explosion of your first step.

They were like running ball in track sneaks.

You know that feeling when you walking in track sneaks and you fell like your bouncing on your toes and a bout to take off.

    That’s how Pippen’s II-IV felt

    Real talk.
