I have no problem with suburban kids rapping but their story/struggle is different from my own. I can admire their talent but I identify more with MC’s whose background mirrors my own experience.

I do. Shit, who wants to hear a nigga in the suburbs rap? Duns ain’t gonna bring anything worth talking about. When you have nothing to really talk about, that brings mediocrity. Shit, at least the niggas from the hood can tell their stories, how it was in their hood, real shit they picked up living in that kind of environment. Let these silver spoon cats play a guitar.

I feel you on that. I can relate to a J.Cole type nigga cause he grew up in the hood, but still went to University. Got a degree as aback up plan and never gave up on his dreams. You gotta respect that.

  25. Mook Says:

Artist most likely to make average albums their entire career….Fab.

    ^^
Yep…and it’s because Fab tries to be commercial when he should just stay in his lane where he’s best. Don’t get me wrong some of his commercial shit is good “Throw It In The Bag” and “Make Me Better” were dope. Although you can’t really give him props for those songs because it was the chorus on both those tracks that made the song. Ne-Yo and The-Dream are to thank. Timbaland too for that hazy beat on Make Me Better.

  26. Tong Po Flo Says:

Duns ain’t gonna bring anything worth talking about.

^ THIS most of the new jacks with silver spoon upbringing be on some wack shit i.e. Donnis

  27. JohnDough Says:

    J. Cole? Suburban silver spoon fed? Nah check his music out. The guy talks about being broke as shit

  28. kevfrescura de talco Says:

de la soul are pioneers in that vein. smh if you’re from ny and think niggas from the burbs aren’t valid tho. matter fact smh if you’re apart of the culture and espouse to that thought.

    J. Cole raps about the hood and Kanye raps about problems that are universal (matrialism etc.). There is no artist that raps about “living” in the suburbs and whatever the hell goes along with that.

Cudi was broke as fuck livin couch to couch in New York city. That nigga struggled, I dunno what you talkin’ about.

You right about Asher Roth. Drake fed himself with his Acting career. His mom was broke as fuck. He lived in the poor part of a rich area. So if anything, a middle class family, supported mainly by his career.

According to Wale’s music, he came from a middle class family too.

I don’t know who the fuck Posner is. lol

  33. nestle snipes Says:

Honestly Drake, Wale, Asher Cloth, Kid Cudi

are better than these Urban Hood rappers…

That’s why Shyne doesn’t fit in in 2010….

Shyne should of been released in 2004. He could of probably went with Gangsta/Hood music tip and sold records.

in 2010 Shyne is not relevant and he cannot assimilate into this new genre of rap hip hop

Thats what I’ve been saying. I dunno if people noticed, but glorifying gangsta shit in Rap is dead. People don’t wanna hear that shit any more. It’s 2010.

Music has been more authentic then ever. Our society in general has. Everything from Blogs, to Video Blogs to Reality TV…everything is about telling your True story. No matter what it is..the internet allows people to reach such a wide audience than you’re story, regardless of what it is, will connect with people.
