Common Presents Just Wright Mixtape: Volume 1

common-presents-just-wright-mixtape-volume-1

Don’t get your hopes up, there’s no new Common on this mixtape. There actually isn’t anything Common on it. It’s just presented by Coporate Comm. Accompanied by this message he left on his blog:

Peace Ya’ll

This is straight up feel good music inspired by “Just Wright”. Enjoy!

Love,
Common

This tweet from earlier today reveals that he’s using the word mixtape in the 6th grader “I made you a mixtape” meaning of the word – not “the G.O.O.D. Music has arrived” kind of way.

Maybe it’s just me being impatient for The Believer, but some of us were expecting some new shit on this. It’s definitely a smart way to get the movie’s poster and release date on every urban hip hop blogs.

Tracklist and download link after the jump.

when actors are making movies, and they do a love scene, how do they stop from you know. (pause) getting erect. Like if I were Common in that flick I’d have a woody on queens ass.

  2. Crackavelli Tha Don Says:

  5. Chief Ali Says:

    @the brother asking about books

The Destruction of Black Civilization by Chancellor Williams
The Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G Woodson (as Fresh mentioned)
    Stolen Legacy by George James
The Philosophy and Opinions of Marcus Garvey

and absolutely anything by Ivan Van Sertima, John Hendrick Clarke, and Cheikh Anta Diop

  6. Fresh Huxtable Says:

I don’t think they can stop themselves, cold. If it happens, you just gotta be professional, I guess. But I think that’s why so many people hook up after working on a movie together. But if Queen is gay forreal, then nobody’s got to worry about that.

  7. cOLD Says:

    Cheikh Anta Diop

watching that doc as I type.

  8. Slumbilical Says:

I need to take acting classes so i can get in a movie with Kerry Washington and “accidently” get erect.

    which one?

if its featuring Diop its gotta be either translated or w/subtitles…i was shocked to find out homie didn’t speak a lick of English…matter of fact, all of his books were translated from French to English

  13. Deen Says:

This nigga deserves an eye jammy for this bullshit. I’m deleting electric circus in protest for this okey-doke.

  14. cOLD Says:

African Origins Of Humanity Anta Diop

  16. Yung Hopp Says:

I’m still downloading this, but I was hoping for some new Common…

  17. Fresh Huxtable Says:

Diop has some interesting and valuable ideas-including his thought that there’s really no such thing as race. I happen to agree with that, and I do think race is largely a social construct.

    J. Henrik Clark is strong too.

I haven’t gotten into Van Sertima, although his work is interesting, I’m not sure about his conclusions. I can’t pass judgment on his work, I don’t have enough to go on.

  18. CZ Says:

Roffle- A rare but fun sexual favor in which one person sits on a waffle iron (on or off depending on preference) long enough to get waffle marks on their ass cheeks. After this anywhere from one to five guys beat off on the person’s “waffle ass”, making what looks like an ass waffle with jizz syrup. Hence, the roffle.
EX. Matt is happy because his girlfriend’s flabby ass is perfect for the roffle.

  19. hl Says:

Common is one of my favorites ever, so I’m glad he reached a point in his career where he can get that hollywood money. But judging from the poster this is the type of movie I would never watch.

  20. hl Says:

This looks to be worth a download.

    It really does though.

  21. Sam Says:

Big ups for the books. I’m in a predominantly white/asian university(UofT).
It’s really hard to find resources on this stuff.
Sad to say but most of what I know I learn from reading comments and googling afterwards

word…are you referring to ‘They Came Before Columbus’? If so I feel you, b/c the claim that ancient Nubians colonized the “New World” while caucasians were rummaging through caves is definitely hard to swallow [ll] when we’ve been taught that Afrikans are basically backwards and intellectually inferior by nature.

You have to unlearn alot of the history thats been whitewashed in order to really to get into Sertima’s work

  25. cOLD Says:

oh and Kat stacks is back at it.

    *daps Sam*

like cOLD said, nothings wrong with that fam…especially considering NONE of this shit is taught in schools, and for good reason…If you’re the victor, why would you want the victim to be truly aware of any former glory and stature?
