Okay Land, so you gonna judge Big off “i like ’em young fresh and greeeen” or his several “pauseworthy” lines? Come on. One reason is that Dre doesn’t do hot lines, he does hot songs. Any of his rapped verses are likely to be awesome.

@Fresh- it’s like your like trying to school a warrior about war. 1) did you ever consider that your views on Puff/Big situation could also go the other way? 2) in 93 the EPMD era was coming to a close, so all those artists you mentioned (special Ed, black sheep, lons, etc), has already faded with the exception of Bustah, whose solo career was jump started from a cameo on a certain remix AFTER Big dropped. 3) the EAST coast/west coast thing was very real. It may have started out as label beef, but it evolved into a cultural civil war. 4) before RTD dropped, Snoop/Dre ran rap media.

nope, that’s the retelling. And maybe fans felt that way after a while, but only the stupid ones. It’s the same thing that happens when people start fighting at concerts after the hypeman leads everybody in “F That Side”. All you wanted was good music, but there ends up being a
fight over something that doesn’t concern you.

You could say that Asher Roth is killing hip-hop by diluting the content with tales of white frat-boy angst that were never really a part of the hip-hop narrative from one perspective but…at the same time…he’s kind of one of the hottest spitters in the game right now…if that makes any sense.

    Class is in session.

Canibus has some dope bars. As does Budden. As does Slaughterhouse. But does that always translate into dope songs or dope complete verses? No. Ask your favorite battle rappers. The oh you mad cause I’m stylin on you cats have gone nowhere.

Dre has verses that tell stories, so of COURSE
you can’t listen to one sentence out the story and go OOOoooohh.

Unlike most, 3000s verses actually have a consistent theme throughout. And FTR, SMH at having to defend Outkast on Nah. Am I going to have to explain the excellence of Ashford and Simpson next? Outkast is very probably the greatest rap duo of all time and one of the best hip hop groups of any size ever.
