Video: Saigon Released From Atlantic Records

While in London last night, Saigon reveals to SoulCultureTV that he has finally secured his release from Atlantic Records and says that he now owns the masters for The Greatest Story Never Told.

…“Moving forward, I’m not gonna position myself to where I’m just somebody’s artist and they can have me just sitting around not able to put out music… I’m gonna play the game by my rules. When I was talking about quitting it was moreso saying that: I’m quitting playing it their way, I’m doing it my way from now on.”

SMH. You already know how I feel about majors and this sort of fuckery. I’m sure that album is dope, but can any project ever live up to 4+ years of hype and anticipation?

Game first 2 purported singles were very weak with the exception of “Shake” which was ok. It’s the Sam Cooke sample precluding me from saying it’s weak…

The public truce brokered last December between Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane appears to be compromised following a violent altercation between their affiliates in downtown Atlanta yesterday (March 4).

The brawl began around 4PM outside of the Walter’s Clothing Store in downtown Atlanta, ironically the location where Jeezy and Gucci Mane first met several years ago.

According to Patrick Morrison, an eyewitness and Walter’s Clothing employee, the animosity was renewed when Flocka’s entourage entered the store and came face to face with Slick Pulla and other Young Jeezy affiliates.

“They just started going at it,” Morrison told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

In the midst of the struggle, a security guard for Waka Flocka discharged his firearm, possibly as a warning to dispel the fighting.

Numerous sources allege that Flocka was attacked by Slick Pulla, an artist signed to Young Jeezy’s Corporate Thugz Entertainment label, and member of the group USDA (United Dope Boyz of America).

“Story has it that Waka Flocka and Slick Pulla have been beefing since an altercation that happened in Miami a few months ago,” explained celebrity photographer Freddy O. “Slick Pulla wanted to get it popping and that’s what he tried to do. After a tussle and fight throughout the entire Walter’s store, with customers, gunfire rang out. In the end Slick Pulla left the store while Waka was left with a bloody nose and eye.”

Patrick Morrison confirmed the assault as well, stating “whoever he (Waka Flocka) is he’s got a big swollen eye now.”

Slick Pulla was just released earlier this year from prison after serving a 2 year bid for parole violation. The terms of his release allowed him to leave the location on work release, which may now be violated if criminal charges are levied.

Thursday’s brawl marks the second Atlanta attack in three months on Waka Flocka Flame. In January, the young rapper was shot in the arm at a car wash on Old National Highway after refusing to give up his jewelry.

Flocka took his Twitter several hours ago, and offered a different version of earlier reports that he was left battered and bloody.

In his response, the Atlanta rapper made light of the conflict and boasted that he administered his own beating to his attacker.

“Shout out to shawty who ran up wit the lumps on his face that look like Martin Lawrence …… lol,” quipped Flocka, alluding to a memorable episode of the comedian’s sitcom where Lawrence was humorously disfigured after a bout with boxer Tommy Hearns.

At press time, neither camps have released official statements.

Thing is, Papoose owns the rights to Nacirema Dream, and where the fuck is that at? If Sai waits for a major to make it big or whatever, Greatest Story Never Told will live up to its name, unfortunately.

  36. DreamMaker Says:

None of these artist have control of anything. So stop saying It’s Saigon’s fault. No it’s not. He had a bad record deal. Something a lot of these famous rappers sign, and they getting f*cked over worse than he was. Because they’re making the label money, and none these artist see a penny of it. So they front like they’re in control, when they getting raped left and right.

It had nothing to do with his material he put out. If you were paying attention, you would know he gave the label plenty of dope material and a dope album on top of it. Stop the hate, Saigon is not a wack rapper. 7 years ago (dude ain’t new to this), y’all was all on his nuts. Yep I said 7 years ago, he been here that long. Now you hate him. My how things change. Atlantic didn’t get behind him, because they didn’t know how to market him. Point blank period. Situations like this rarely have to do with talent, buzz or the artist themselves. It’s got everything to do with business and the powers that be. I see why y’all wouldn’t survive in the game. You don’t know how the business works. Bottom line.

Anyway, like he said, he know what not to do now so he won’t end up in another bad record deal. Sai can make it, if he makes his moves right from now on.
