Video: DJ Premier Recalls Producing For B.I.G.

On Sean C & LV and Young Sav’s Grind Music Radio, Preemo tells the story of Ready To Die’s “Unbelievable” & Life After Death’s “Kick In The Door.”

He says he gave him “Unbelievable” for $5,000 outta love, at a time when he was charging $30,000.

He also talks about the tension between Jeru The Damaja & B.I.G. in the 90s, and B.I.G. throwing darts at Jeru & himself on “Kick In The Door.”

So DJ Premier was getting 30k a beat…is that good by todays standards?

It’s hard to tell what guys get for beats or what the average for a big name producers is because a lot lie about what they charge for beats.

Well, you had them both as the greatest. I would really put Nas on the same level as Big, personally. But I know Nas is a great rapper.

I guess I was being nitpicky, my bad.

Jeru would definitely NOT have ate B.I.G. alive, please. That dude I can’t even comment on him but I got to meet him at one of my LES spots and all I can say is I wish B.I.G. would’ve just roasted his ass alive so he would be working in Target now making sure I get all my red special discounts and not continuing to eat off hip-hop. Fuck out of here!
