    True. I’m just saying Cube’s discog holds more weight because of the strength of the content. Those albums/songs capture a point in time where LA was wild with gang violence, police brutality and racial tensions were peaking. Cube’s work foreshadowed the LA riots.

    ======================================
    There’s some subtle commentary on there, but for the most part, it’s all about Jay.

    RD was a look at the life of a drug dealer in 90’s NY and again, there was some subtle commentary, but nothing as powerful as records like True To The Game, Dead Homiez, Horny Lil’ Devil, etc.

    *daps B-ease*

    Not that I normally care about lists like these, but freshman or rookie of the year is so hard to define in hip-hop, so I am just curious as to what the standards are, obviously Jay elec is not young boy new to the scene, but he hasn’t put an actual album out so should he count? I wouldn’t expect him to be in it anyway nor do I care, but if there is one person who definitely needs to be on that list its Reks, and again I know he has been around, but have all these guys its not like this is the first year they started making music

    ….. word the irony is I was one of those people who ignored the song, I was bumping de la, tribe, krs, redman, pac and I was at the same time hating the pop music puffy was ushering in and he first time I heard that hook I was like I hate Jay-Z, refused to listen to the verses just because I was offended by the obvious reach gain commercial appeal, but when I smarted up I was like Got Damn he killed that, but again that is not a social commentary song about the bettering of people and our society at all …..

    Word. I mean, considering where the industry is now, its hard to quantify “buzz”. And then you have an artist like Wiz, who’s been a mainstay on the nets for like 5 years and has dropped 2 actual albums, but hes on the list? Is it because hes poised to make a leap in 2010? I dont know. You’re right, it seems mad arbitrary.

    as for weed, I had to stop smoking for 13 months (a failed piss test would of put me in jail) thats all I needed to hear, I made it through those 13 months with no problem not being able to smoke, because I knew if I smoked I’d get tested fail and go to jail, I’d rather be home and not high than in jail and not high. But now there is no way I could ever live my life without weed, I got 2 1/2 weeks of school work done yesterday, I just kept smoking all day, my brain cleared and I just did work, it really is a miracle drug
