Video: Lloyd Banks Has Another Unexpected Collabo, Talks ‘Beamer, Benz Or Bentley’ Success

Banks talks to MTV about the positive reception of “Beamer, Benz Or Bentley” on radio. He says Juelz & him did more records, one of which will be on another continuously-delayed mixtape, Juelz’s Reagan Era.

Again, he brings up a follow-up single with an unexpected collaborator:

I got another smash on the way with somebody that they probably never thought I would work with.

Damn I must be out of touch. Is this a hit? Like is it on the radio and 106 & park?

  2. Harlem World Says:

This tracks a monster, its been a while since a record blew up without payola.

  3. Charles Oakley Says:

Yo Lloyd, shit or get off the pot. That last album was not it.

The only person that really fits that description is Fat Joe.

    Maybe kiss? wayne? styles?
I dont know about the rest, but I dont know any one waiting on a banks and joe collabo.

that record kinda of meh…i don’t understand the craze..maybe i’m past the whole money, cars, clothes, hoes era of rap singles..

  9. PHENOMENON Says:

Seriously, I’m almost through with rap.

There is a handful of artists I like that I feel are saying things worth listening to and are really honing their musical/lyrical craft but aside from that minority. . .

Dont really understand the hate Fat Joe gets. He was a member of DITC, he let the world hear Big Pun, and he gave some hits to NYC. Good career IMO.

cosign but banks has been putting in work over the past 18 months just workin the mixtape scene, you can hear the hunger in his voice (nhjic). I think the fans gave g-unit the reality check they needed.

Yeah…I remember reading about that, but it didn’t sound like the agreement would work in Jay’s favor at all. Can’t really remember the details though.
    ^^^^

true, I remember Bol writing about it, I think she gets like 10 million, a car and there was something about a plane but i cant really remember

Its mostly from his old crew. Pun put Terror Squad on but Joey held them back is the usual argument made. Its a tough call though because some dudes like Charlie Rock put their lives on the line for Fat Joe, and didnt recieve the loyalty, money etc they expected after Pun passed. But Joey will say they were lazy and that they dont wanna make music like him.

it took the record industry falling apart for new york rappers to start working together like they should have 6 years ago…i mean, imagine dipset/g-unit collabos in that 03-04 era….would have caused straight pandemonium…these dudes wait till their star is on the decline to clique up….not smart at all…

    ^
But have you ever asked yourself what ever stopped any of the TS niggas from giving Kayslay and big mike mixtape joints? Coming out with mixtapes them selves? etc…

Their work ethic was always suspect…you don’t need Fat Joe to spit a freestyle over the newest beat…

Look what Freeway has done after the ROC faltered…you can see the difference in work ethic…it’s very palpable..

  29. Harlem World Says:

    Certified Gangstas was G-Unit/Dipset collabo.

But usually the umbrella labels dont mix, they encouraged to compete against each other.

Lyor had roc/inc/ruff ryders competing at Def Jam and it worked wonderfully.

  30. D_Block_4_Life Says:

50 has always been a little bitch for not letting his artist do records with other artist…like really, what the fuck is that? Ol’ you can only play on the steps but the pass the gate ass nigga…

Yeah and this is what led to the beginning of the demise of G-unit. 50 got upset because Game appeared in his own friends video with out getting permission from him.

  33. D_Block_4_Life Says:

But when you record sales begin to slack the you wanna have 8 niggas featured on your record and give permission to your artist to play with the other kids on the block.

I’m personally an advocate of collaborations btw

  34. Harlem World Says:

Their work ethic was always suspect…you don’t need Fat Joe to spit a freestyle over the newest beat…

Of course not because they all wanted to be stars with no work ethic. Look at Remy Martin, she admitted to having houses and BMW’s but wanted more and felt like blah blah blah…

A role played is so integral to a powerful movement but niggas can’t overstand.

FTW none of them dudes wass gonna be stars, sometimes you just have to play your role..

I still maintain- who stopped them for making music on their own? That”s what happens when you rely on another human being. Niggas could of had mixtapes under their belt and maybe with their great output they could of indie deals and put out their own LP (see: Freeway etc.)

  46. Harlem World Says:

Look at it like this, competition is great for business. You need competiton, its healthy for any business and its healthy for the fans too. When we had Wu/Big/Nas/Pac you think they wernt competing aggressively? If them niggas all got along it would be like…southern hip hop (no shots)

Cuban thought joey was doing him dirty so they arranged a meeting. But Joey tried to jump Cuban with about 10 spanish dudes in a BX diner. Joey icepicked him and now he has a huge scar on his face.

oh shit lol…When keeping it real goes wrong….for Cuban Link anyway. So Joe hit Jay over the head with a bottle and gave Cuban Link a buck 50? damn. I guess he is Fat Joe Da Gangsta. I thought they arranged the fight through Showbiz in the BX, scrapped, and kept it moving.

  55. nation Says:

btw I just saw this comment from the other day. landLORD told Amp I said that he was commenting under other names.

for the record, that’s not true. I said he was commenting from the same IP as other people. but he later said that his laptop was fucked up and it’s pretty much confirmed that Sleep only comments from his phone so that’s probably why that happened. either way he added something different at the end of his name and it went to moderation and I checked just in case it was Boosie again, lol.

now, it’s not that serious but it seems to be a game changer for what you were talking. so my bad for the mix up

    and as for this:

“Lyor had roc/inc/ruff ryders competing at Def Jam and it worked wonderfully.”

jay, ja and dmx did a bunch of tracks together at their height and toured together. them working together is what helped nyc be so successful in that late 90s era. dipset/g-unit could have kept that going. i thought mobb going to g-unit was a step in that direction, but blood money was one of the weakest mobb albums, when they needed to come back hard after infamy. ah well.

  97. MisUnderStood Says:

This guy D_Block_4_Life doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about!!! I hate when rap groupie’s state opinions like they are facts!! He’s a dumb ass!

Everyone knows the real reason Game fell out with 50 was because he sided with 2 rappers that 50 was engaging in a war of words with. 50 co-signing Game is what made Game relevant! Game had been around for a while and nothing stuck…when 50 snatched him up with G-Unit, the world listened.

So after 50 does thes CRAZY mixtapes to set Game’s album up and gives Game the best record Game had recorded to date…Game decides to go AWOL and say he doesn;t have an issue with guys his team is about to go to war with. Jim Jones and 50 have a lot of mutual friends in the street, so there was never an issue with Jim. It was with Fat Joe and Jada. In fact, 50 took verbal abuse from Joe Buddens because Game had an issue with Buddens. 50 didn’t say “I don’t have beef with Buddens”…he rode with his dude…the same way Game should have rode with 50!!

That’s like your best friend not fighting when you are getting jumped by some random guy. I don’t know about D_Block_4_Life, but if my man is not fighting with me…I’m kicking his ass after the fight!

People just hate on G-Unit because it’s the cool thing to do, but honestly, no crew in rap has accomplished what they did…not Jay, not Puff, and not Wayne (Young Money album flopped…we’ll see what happens with Drake). They put out over 25 G-Unit generated mixtapes and all of his crews albums did extremely well (including Yayo’s gold album).

Men lie women lie numbers don’t!
