I dunno what everyone else is on….this is nowhere good enough to have made Tha Carter III.

Hell the first verse sounds like something he “freestyled” on Tim Westwood once, and everyone shat on him for how bad the freestyle was.

And the beat sounds kind of weird…although Wayne kind of kills those weird beats [I feel Like Dying, Yes, etc].

That “Eat You Alive” song with Luda I mean.

I remember hearing this way back on The Drought is Over 6 and thinking what a disappointing mixtape. The Drought is Over 2 is way better…

I understand that and I would try to calm you down and such, but let me explain. He’s like Hendrix in the following ways:

-he’s always fucking around with his flow and delivery, the same way Hendrix messed around with his sound. Just like Hendrix was always about sound over notes [unlike the inferior guitarists that followed], Wayne is all about his own aesthetic and never make a change to his sound without that in mind.

-Like Hendrix, Wayne releases a shitload of material, and not all of it is stuff you can listen to everyday. Think Electric Ladyland for Hendrix; I can barely listen to that entire album at once. Or live Hendrix, for that matter. It’s impressive stuff though, and a lot of the leaks and mixtapes and guest verses have that same quality for Wayne.

-You just know with Wayne’s popularity a bunch of people are going to try to follow in his footsteps and miss the point, becoming inferior rapper in the process. Just like with Hendrix, where people never understood my first point, and just went for shredding real fast and useless experiments [think Jimmy Page using a violin stick on his guitar, or Eddie Van Halen] without a clear sound in mind. They’ll try to be weird for it’s own sake, which despite what many will say, was never what Wayne was/is about.

Haha yeah, you’re right. But you have to use huge blanket generalizations like my original statement to spur discussion.

But yeah, I’m glad we agree, I just wanted to see if the things I noticed made sense to anyone else.
