relapse wasnt my cup of tea but it had like three excellent, excellent songs. i understand how the subject matter would turn people off tho. some of the songs were unlistenable; talking about sucking his uncles dick and shit. weird. but that should not take away from his flow (on point nearly every song) and technical rhyme skill (probably unmatched) that he displays. he is an excellent rapper. he makes some fucked up songs.

  28. Cypher Says:

@456 what streets you talking about.. if em outsold every rapper last year somebody had to be ” bumping him” (pause if needed)

Now, imagine how it is for all the white rappers who want to make music post-Em… they have to remain in Em’s shadow, stomach being compared to him no matter what, be unbelievably ill at their craft and have a distinct non-Em lane. Damn near impossible odds…

no we’re not talking about geopolitics.. but semantics does have a place on a hip-hop blog because isnt hip-hop based on a play on words.

And like i said earlier i was trying to demonstrate to 456 that you cant truly say somthing is felt in the streets or the ghetto because those arent actual places there ideas..

And Ross may or may not have sold drugs…but the aspirations for success and regrets of past deeds he raps about are things everyone can relate to:

i spit, live rounds that would penetrate a vest
nigga take ya seats I’m a demonstrate a test
how to freak the beats so gangsta fresh
an it thump, from the east coast to bangladesh
big bank willy dank smokin the thing to death
but hold tight cuz it’s not over yet
i don’t even feel like I’m not sober yet
and it ring like shots in the projects new year’s eve
and it ain’t even October yet
i’m a big bounty hunter like boba fett
y’all more shell shocked than a soldier get
if the prize in my sights then I’m goin’ for this
whoop whoop ‘riq geez be the ultimate
I’m the culpuhrite give me the bulk of this
‘riq set it on the magnetic ultra tip
get down how you ‘posed to get
i got nothing to lose I’m a killer with no regrets
i’m like young ll, cuz I’m hard as hell
make a nigga screw face like gargamel
now I’m all out on my own like patty labelle
put the pimp game down on your mademoiselle

456 you are fucked in the head my pedigree chum if you think Ghana are winning the world cup. It’s in Winter, heat won’t play a big part like it would do in other World Cups thereby meaning the European teams shine less. Ghana, as much as I have respeck for Essien even though he’s a Chelski mug, Muntari and Appiah and Mensah for that matter oh and John fuckin Pantsil who’s so shit he’s good, they will not make it anywhere near the finals. Trust. England got this shit wrapped up son. Give us the Cup and we’ll take it home now. Save everyone getting in a strop.

  215. nestle snipes Says:

    Brazil is taking it.

England needs to watch out for Holland, Porkchops.

  216. Frank Says:

Can’t see an African team winning the Word Cup. Not this year anyway. There’s a couple of brilliant players on each team but they don’t play as a unit and their defending is just atrocious. Some of the goalies there are just clowns.

  217. EnglandRepresent Says:

Kevin, those Black Thought bars are some of the illest of all time. I don’t say that lightly. Black Thought is slept on.

  218. EnglandRepresent Says:

Well said Frank. Some of the goalkeeping in the African Cup was schoolboy standard!! Good lord it’s been some atrocious keeping. Brazil will be up there, Holland might do something. My tip for the 4 teams in the semi-finals :

    Brazil
    Spain
    England
    Germany

  219. g7 Says:

i give an African squad another 4 years before they win it. its just a matter of time. it’d be pretty ill if they did it on european soil…lol.

It’d be mint if an African team got to the Semis but like Fracnk said, the organisation in the teams ain’t at the same standard as the other teams at this stage, that’s just fact. Ghana beat Brazil in the Under 17’s 456, yes they did. Will they win the World Cup as a result considering it takes place in about 5 months time????? Hell fuckin NO. Not ever. As far I’m aware they’ll be fielding their first team, men, not Under 17 year olds. It’s just fact mate.

  230. EnglandRepresent Says:

And England will run the World Cup mark my words. I’ll go one some Two Times self imposed hiatus if that shit doesn’t come true. Write that down. Have you ever seen Wayne Rooney play like he is at the moment???? Frightening. Admittedly Gerrard ain’t at his best but with Jermaine Defoe he’s a Yiddo and Roooooney up front the Three Lions are gonna bum rush (nh) the whole fucking tournament.

And co-signal that man G-Funk, Capello is one of the best managers in international football there is. Along with Guus Hiddink who is a fucking genius. I just can’t see England choking as they usually do. Mind you the expectation and weight on the shoulders of the players as a result is massive. The whole country shuts down when a World Cup is on. I’m talkin a bit of shit here admittedly but if you know football you know England have got a great chance this year. The stars are aligned. And Jay has cleared it with the Illuminati so roll on June/July.

^nah, i just don’t think he mastered his craft till it was somewhat recently. the early roots records were like a hiphop cover band – they sounded like other rap groups of the time. during the 90s black thought was doing his best nasir rendition. he developed his own style over time.

its a different dynamic w/thought cause he worked on masterpiece theatre when studios were still using DAT’s. questo is a little like you in that he effects folks w/his words, opinions and overall knowledge of music that plays into the allure of the roots sound. them niggas traveled a third of a year since they got their weight up. how’s black sposed to drop an obsolete produced solo effort while doing jam sessions and traveling worldwide touring?

  244. Frank Says:

Niggas are underestimating Rooney. I fucking hate him but he’s an incredible player and the one who’s carrying the Man United team right now.

Fabregas has been the best player in the league though. Can’t wait for Sunday!

  245. nestle snipes Says:

    ====================================
There was a window where there was some downtime. Enough time to put together a project. I don’t think Thought has any real solo aspirations. If it hasn’t happened by now, it prolly ain’t gonna happen.

A shame too. Cause Tariq can flat out rap.

  250. Frank Says:

France shouldn’t even be there cheating cunts.

^ Shit happens. Irish need to stop their bloodclot crying. Defoe has been good but not consistent. I’d say Lennon has been Spurs’ best player and in terms of strikers in the league, Van Persie was the best before his injury. Drogba and Anelka deserve mentions too.

  251. 456 Says:

Irish need to stop their bloodclot crying.

  252. EnglandRepresent Says:

Defoe’s top of the goal scoring charts. Fairly consistent when you think about it. Van Persie (rapist cunt) and Drog and Nelks have been awesome. Agreed. Lennon has been excellent thus far. Might be too young and inexperienced for a World Cup but you never know. I’m hoping Beckham gets there. True legend of the game. Still best dead ball specialist in the world.

  253. Frank Says:

lol Eng, Are you a Spurs fan? So much hate for Arsenal players. With Defoe, I mean 5 of his goals came against Wigan and if I remember, he had a hat-trick when the season just started. That’s 8 of his goals right there. For me, he doesn’t score enough on a consistent basis. Na meen?
