Video: Closed Session w/ DJ Babu, ADaD, Rhymefest & GLC (Teaser)

Here’s the trailer to another Closed Session, from RubyHornet:

On Saturday we set up shop at SoundScape studios and went to work with none other than DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples and The Beat Junkies. DJ Babu is a hero of mine, and a true influence. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with him on a Closed Session. In the past, the emcee/singer has been the main feature, and they cycle through our Closed Sessions catalog of production. With Babu, the script was flipped, and Babu got his choice of Chicago emcees and called in ADaD, GLC, and Rhymefest to get down. The session last well over 12 hours, took place in two studios, and included appearances by Mikkey Halsted, YP, Big Homie D.O.E. and others. Here’s a quick preview captured with the Flip Cam including a smoke session, and battle between ADaD and Rhymefest, and more…

That wasnt what made those bars potent. In the context of the entire rhyme it provided an undeniably ill segueway from Ross’ braadoccious (sp) hustler rhymes to the more reflective, somewhat regret filled bars that the rest of the song was to become.

Besides, Beans proved that rhyming the same word over and over, yet changing inflection and meaning can be a potent form of rhyme writing.
