Its amazing how much Jay and Nas have in common in terms of their careers. Yet they seem to always go in opposite directions. I guess this Damain collab will be just one more thing for fans to compare and debate. Best of Both Worlds vs Distant Relatives.

If you really think about it, imagine if takeover and Ether never happened. People may not be so divided on the issue, but I’d be willing to bet Nas vs Jay would still be the #1 hiphop argument.

^ I wasn’t even thinking ‘Nas versus Jay’ pre-Takeover. The H to the Omo/Stillmatic freestyle didn’t make me think an epic battle was coming, either.

    ^^THEIR CAREERS ARE EQUAL

BUT NAS PREFERS THE LYRICAL WAY and THE MUSICAL WAY like HIS dad !
JAY Z RESEARCHES SUCCESS & TROPHEES MORE THAN NAS

DISTANT RELATIVES VS BEST OF BOTH WOLRDS
this is just NAS vs JAY again, like always, even if da beef is done.

JAY IS NASIR WITH A GREAT BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT

NAS IS JAYZ WITH A GREAT LYRICAL HIPHOPAL MUSICAL TRADITION

  43. Remy Martin Says:

nas aint concerned with the spot light, which is why i consider him one of the greats because it is actually all about the music, when other people have an agenda (money, girls) not a bad 1 i might add, but none the less it takes away from heartfelt music (nh)
junior gong has this shit in his blood

yo someone should post the lyrics for this. its gems throughout it. only nas could do an album like this cause if he doesn’t have an ear for beats he definitely has an ear for lyrics. it wouldn’t sound this good if he collaborated w/kymani.

I post to express myself (epinion) to whomever it concerns. I really don’t care.

90% of the time nobody talking bout ish that makes sense to the outside observer.

Trust me I DON’T GIVE A CUKF or read most nahright comments unless its before or after my comment when I post or about a particular artist im interested in knowing what others might think.

  72. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

Could Jay pull off an album like Untitled? Could he make a song like “I Can”?

^this is most disingenuous bullshit i ever read on nahright.

you are writing this after watching dude do what he can to help in haiti. he coulda skipped this and just mailed a check. or less. he coulda sat home and did nothing. so not only is your argument wrong, your timing is weak.

second, dude don’t gotta sing “i can”. HE LIVES IT.

maybe he talks about champagne to keep the kids paying attention to him?
    ==========================================
    WTF are you talking about?

What does him performing at the Haiti benefit have to do with the questions I asked?

And timing? Fuck are you talking about?

    Stan harder.

  73. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

Jay doesn’t have the Camel humps to attempt something like this.

  74. Mr. Iceberg Slim Says:

    Sa Pa Sé, my Port-Au-Princes
my Haitian Gods and all of my Princesses
Our condolences as you fightin against this
were right by your side as we tryin to make sense of this
heavenly father help us see through these problems
and for those thats left accept them into your garden
so heres my theory, the countrys already starvin
so we sacrificed many to shed light on all of them
God please pardon, I speak from the heart
its the only way I see this tragedy befall on them
so lets get involved with them, hand to hand with them
arm to arm with them til they get strong again,
    When the sky falls

  75. Mr. Iceberg Slim Says:

Learn from the past, New Orleans was flooded
So we know we just cant rely on the government
We under the rubble again, here we go rumbling when
When we gon catch a break, my friend lost his mother and then
And then, Carline lost her uncles and them
Buried with no caskets, they just put covers on them
    lyrics courtesy of killerhiphop.com
And the tears fall, and we fight back
Story aint done, it cant end like that
Nah not like this, tomorrows survivors gonna carry on your name
You live on inside us, your memorys alive with us
You inspired us, to rebuild this country, you just guide us

  76. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

    My original comment…

No one’s looking to Jay-Z to change the world.

    At least I’m not.

But he has a responsibility to use his status as a platform to inspire the youth.
Bragging about buying bottles of champagne the size of a midget isn’t gonna do it.

Could Jay pull off an album like Untitled? Could he make a song like “I Can”? I wanna say he could but he’s never really shown any evidence that he even wants to, outside of that “rhyme like Common Sense” line. And even that I don’t believe.

There’s no subtext to his songs. It’s all surface shit. As long as he’s been in the game and as much as he’s experienced in his lifetime, I just expect more. I understand not wanting to go back to the drug raps (even though there is a way to do it without pretending he’s still in that life) but the bourgeois shit he’s spitting now isn’t any better. Nas has managed to find a balance, even if it means losing some sales. While Nas shuns the spotlight, Jay lives for it. If you’re gonna play that role, have something to say that means something to someone other then yourself.

  77. Ghost Writer Says:

  78. Despo Rutti Says:

    nas is great emcee!
    jay is a great rapper!!

emcee = master of ceremony = lyricist way
rapper = emcee too but more on the performer or something entertainer way

    that’s it !!!

    i like jigga fo rilla
    but nasir is the man

  87. Despo Rutti Says:

without the money and his new status, jayz would be no longer in the game
even if he’s a dope rapper. can’t front. he’s a legend for real.

what i mean it’s that i can see nasir jones at 60 years old
writting poetry for some jazz ish, blues, blue funk or etc
i can see NaS as a musician like his daddy Olu dara

jay-z what to be sinatra but rap is not really for a 60 years old dude
even if da reasonable doubt concert few years ago was amazing
but at 60 years old i do not see him in the makin’ music

jayz 50 years old, end of his live nation contract… end of career
(like michael jackson)… without death i hope for him…

nas got the music in his veins. ONE MIC / I CAN / ILLMATIC
that’s mature ish for a young man

  89. Mr. Iceberg Slim Says:

Im speaking to everyone, just let the two live….jayz is where he at and nas is where he is at…picking sides and all that is played out, them dudes made up and nas signed and worked for dudel so if them dudes can get over it why are fans still speaking non sense………..and to be honest they are 2 diff. artist on diff. plains right now, so a comparison is not even fair………i spent my younger years boycottin 2pac cause he beefed with biggie and i missed a lot of good music that i had to go back on…just enjoy both for what they do and stop lookin for an mc to educate and uplift people all the time…niggas are starvin for father figures

You’re obviously defending Jay-Z cause he’s vapid and you’re a fan of that hollow bullshit lol.

Again, these cats have a responsibility, especially with the amount of shit Jay-Z pops, you’d think he’d be influencing the culture to do more then wear “all black everything”.

  96. unity Says:

@Mr. Iceberg Slim…stop trying to act like you are a fan of both Nas and Jay-z because the sneaky shade you are throwing at Nas is very obvious that your bias is more for Jay!! Then you got a nerve telling people “to just let the two live”! LOL…you weak nigga!!!

I really like nas, and he is nas. nothing more nothing less. jay is always trying to evolve and be bigger. that’s not bad, that’s just him as a motivated individual. some people want to hate on him because he’s taking it off in the deep end some times, but isn’t that what artists do? they are both goats so shut the fuck up you faggot ass geeks.
