gilmlk

Gil Scott-Heron will be at S.O.B.’s on Sunday for their Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration and we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away.

The tradition continues with SOBs’ annual Martin Luther King Jr Day celebration, with one of the people responsible for the United States’ adoption of the national holiday. Gil Scott-Heron celebrates MLK Day on Sunday, January 11th.

The revered musician and poet, most famous for the 1970’s era-defining poem, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised”, returns to the legendary S.O.B.’s for his first show in 2009. A long time civil rights activist, Gil Scott-Heron is the author of a book on the history of MLK Day and returns to S.O.B.’s for two intimate shows commemorating the holiday.

The first person to e-mail nah.right.contests[at]gmail[dot]com with Gil Scott-Heron in the subject line gets 2 tickets to the show.

UPDATE: Contest is over. Have yourselves a safe weekend folks.

That tends to be my stance when I get into the MLK/X debate. Malcolm’s effect wasnt as tangible as Kings. His mere existence did alot to change blacks self-perception in this country, but MLK actually got laws changed. The Montgomery bus boycott is the most brillant protest in US history.
