If producers had to use nothing but live instruments, there would be no white producers

Nah, I’m looking at it as we speak and I see a couple of spots I need to tighten up. Thanks.

  7. Plug Says:

If I didnt know no better, I would swear he from here. he looks familiar

  8. landlord Says:

i see what Woodro is saying though… while white producers are adept at studio engineering and all sorts of electronic wizardy, i cant think of any white bass players, percussionists or drummers that would be able to hold down the essential beats, rhythms and syncopation necessary to make organic boom bap … or even any soul or funk tracks … white cats can play good guitar riffs and keyboards but not so much the rhythm instruments …

the older white jazz artists like David Axelrod would have a better chance than todays white musicians

  9. RIGZ Says:

  31. TheCo!!inB Says:

I think you’re under estimating white musicians. I know land knows his shit on musicians but there are a gang of ill studio musicians that are white that play on a lot of rap records. J R Rotem easily comes to mind even though he’s doing mostly pop he can play live and has already cut his teeth with boom bap beats. There out there, you just have to know where they are.

  32. RIGZ Says:

GW’s exhibit is top 2…dunno who the other one in that top 2 is tho…

  36. Digital Scales Says:

Under estimating, yet you drop one name?

    Just look at Jazz

It’s a pretty accurate statement though I give you JR Rotem

  53. TheCo!!inB Says:

Scott Storch could as well, and we all know he was with the Roots and gave 2 legendary producers their schwag back. I can’t sit here and spout of studio musicians i’ve seen create grooves for a producer to use but i’ve seen it often enough to where I’m confident in saying you could have a white producer who plays live.
Don’t overlook rock or alternative genre percussionsit either, just because the style they play isn’t percussion driven doesn’t mean they don’t have chops.

  54. AmpGeez a.k.a Exhibit Geez Says:

Willie The Kid > Gillie The Kid
