true. Honestly though I think currency had just as much of a chance to blow as drake, but drake is just WAY WAY more marketable. Wayne had currency on a large amount of tracks and even some big ones (where da cash at)

  173. b-ease Says:

Like land alluded to earlier, Drake and Wayne are in the studio together constantly (ll), which would clearly lead to an influence on each others styles. It’s also not uncommon for rappers in that circumstance to throw each other lines (Wu Tang, Styles and Jada on the back and forth, Kanye and his collaborators, etc). Its not hard to imagine Wayne assisting with the “Money to Blow” verse, and its equally not hard to to imagine Drake helping him with melodies and punchlines.

But to me, personally, the above is a completely different animal than ghostwriting. Ghostwriting is Foxy’s brother writing Broken Silence. Drake’s not writing Wayne’s new album, and Wayne isnt writing his.

Also let me get this straight, Drake drops the most popular hiphop song of the year, and he doesnt deserve a Grammy nod? Sounds like the h-word to me.

True that it’s a bad look, but it’s a new day in hip hop, I remember when being open about your sexuality was the worst offense, wayne and baby proved that to be wrong, lol. Fact is, people don’t really give a fuck about anything as long as your music is dope, wayne had a ghost writer for prom queen, nice song (atleast to me) and no one gave a shit, if he’s as much of a artist as he said he is, he would be open minded about letting someone pen his verses. Being a artist is more than just creating great peices of art, it’s seeing the greatness in others work as well too right? It’s really not a big deal anymore if someone ghost write your shit

    >I know your gripe with the officer, but c’mon duke it really ain’t that hard to deal coke and you know that… of course not in the volumes he claims but …

He didn’t roll out the red carpet for Curren$y so why Drake? Sounds to me like he was taking care of his “GW.” Not to mention they coincidently have the same “managers.”

    ^^
Cause Drake has the intangible that most hiphop artists (whether they want to admit it or not) would kill for: he can write hit songs. It’s not rocket science. “Taking care of his ghostwriter”? Thats a reach. The simplest explanation is usually the true one. Wayne’s no dummy so he saw a chance to make money with the next big (ll) rap superstar. That YM tour prolly wouldnt have done so well without Drake on the lineup.

I consider that somewhat refreshing, unchartered territory content wise, but hey what do I know

    ^

emo = emotional. Yea, its a track about Drake speaking on his emotions and troubles in his newfound fame. and your right, it is refreshing and he is very good at it. But just beucase him and wayne dont rap about the same subject matter doesnt make him better than wayne.

Drake could never have written a song like BMJR

  181. landlord Says:

plug … you gettin mad emotional and trying to psychologically dissect why NO ONE answered your queries about diamond ring certifications… maybe no one wants to discuss it… maybe some dont know the answer … maybe some of the people you think dont wish to discuss any detail about their involvements with their current woman… maybe niggas not actually legally married… but all of the above, has the right to privacy at the author’s discretion … callin people faggots and whatnot? SMH… u mad?…. let it go B… go to Zales and ask a nigga …

  182. Joe 88 Says:

Point is, wayne went on stage and rap a drake verse at a time when no one knew who drake was, does that mean drake = wayne’s GW? No, he prolly thought that the verse was dope, but him claiming it like it’s actually his raises red flags (no gang meeting)

  183. Joe 88 Says:

    >let it go B… go to Zales and ask a nigga …

  184. Gravity Says:

Snoop is not necessarily a revered MC though, partially b’cos of the ghostwriting you mentioned…

The artform is quite necessary for self expression in the lyrics.. If it was R&B then i’d understand but Hiphop still reps the struggle and artists painting their own perspectives.. IDK, maybe its acceptable now but not in my book..

    ^^^^^^^^
of coarse not those tracks werent good enough for the shit sandwich that was Relapse why were you expecting something doper from a re-release of a album with new/leftover tracks …labels in this recession are going squeeze ever drop out of their best product….expect a re-release of BP3 with “new” songs

I read in an interview where Drake talks about this ‘verse’ and how it was Wayne’s way of putting him on.. In the same interview, he sorta alluded to GW’ing for duke by saying they inspire each other with ideas and whatnot.. Smelled like GW’ing to me. If he is then he’s to blame for Weezy’s lackluster lyrics post LFLS..

  189. yeahme2 Says:

Money to Blow was on the Heartbrake Drake (pause) mixtape….no hook or nothing just the verse….drake definately wrote that shit

wayne has always bitten pieces of other artists sytles.

    – he stole the whispery rap and voice tone of Jay-Z around the time BP1 dropped (and piggybacked off the whole best rapper alive line that J said first) (See “Hustler Muzik” – side note: i swear J coulda wrote that)

    – gillie ghostwrote for Carter 1 and 2

    – he stole the whole “ughh” disgusted adlib from Clipse (Clipse even confronted it in the Complex mag but its kinda old)

    – the tone he sings in he completely stole from Drake and he had to sign Drake to his team cuz Drake can do waynes style better than he can himself

Alot of artists borrow but its not noticed till u really pay attention

    @Herbal

I guess you didn’t check out the link I posted, drake wasn’t there, there was no music playing when he spit the verse, it was one of those “hol up, cut the beat, i’m bout to say some ill shit” moments, 3rd, no one knew who drake was at the time also. If wayne would’ve did “best I ever had” it would be different, but he did a verse I guess he thought wouldn’t see the light of day.

If i’m rapping a verse that my man wrote, i’m gonna rap a well known song that the crowd can sing along with, not some mixtape shit that didn’t see the light of day, that’s suspect
    ^^^
This…wow I know u niggas heard Wayne shout drake out at the end of that shit!!! That was Wayne way of puttin Drake on so ppl would check 4 him lol And BTW Drake was there but b/c he wasn’t hi profile enough MTV ain’t let em in
