Video: BlakRoc: The Trailer

The BlakRoc LP finally hits stores this Friday.

Whether it be physical or figurative, whether it be the Berlin Wall or a social stigma, sometimes there are dividing lines that separate what should be together naturally. BlakRoc does not smash those boundaries or break down those walls, it proceeds as if those boundaries never existed and acts accordingly. BlakRoc sets the drawbridge between forms of expression, Hip Hop and Rock by doing something as simple as putting the artists of different genres of music in one room and documenting as harmonious collaboration takes place. Backed over the soundscapes of indie rock superstars The Black Keys, BlakRoc brings elite hip hop artists to record an album like none other, an experiment with no control subject. The Black Keys paired up with artists such as Jim Jones, Mos Def, Raekwon, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and a cadre of other stars is a transfusion of new blood to the otherwise stolid veins of the current music scene.

BlakRoc will be available Nov 27th on iTunes and select music retailers worldwide

Also, over a year later, and still, Staff Development >>>

I enjoyed some of the other tapes, but this one always stood out to me. As dope as the others were, this and It’s Charles Hamilton (along with select tracks from Intervention and Pink Lava Lamp) proved that unlike a lot of “net-famous” emcees, this could actually had the ability to make music that would appeal to the masses.

… word staff development gets left out of the discussion because of how many songs were just the weed carriers, but every song charles is on in that tape is on some crazy ill shit and his weed carriers hold their own on a couple of them …

My openly gay canadian boss always picks when I`m about to go on vacation to throw some salt in the game.Needless to say I finna to be slavin like a hebrew the rest of the day.LOL

No more nahright until monday. To my man SDP,I hope you did not find any of my comments regarding the quran offensive.I was a devout muslim when I was around your age(who would`ve thunk it).I had my chick wearing the face veil and the whole shit.I don`t regret the phase, because I learned alot of discipline and humility.Like the elder Land(paraphrase) said as you get older you will question things, and you find that beliefs you once held begin to evolve. One jewel I learned was that you can be RIGHTEOUS without being RELIGIOUS.If you gonna be a muslim, then do the shit 100%.Please don`t be getting high one minute, talking about juma the next. There`s way too many half assed muslims/christians/etc.If you are a walking contradiction, then maybe religion ain`t for you.

    *peace to all*

Definetly. Not as thought provoking as Charles, but all have mic prescence, and dope songwriting ability. Way better than the average weed carrier.

…. O don’t get it twisted I actually like his weed carriers music, I’m just saying thats why others leave that tape out of the discussion, thats always one of my top 3 tapes when recommending him to people, its not as good top to bottom as some of his other tracks but the standout tracks are amazing ….

seems like Jayz dont extend love to niggas that have the potential to surpass him talent-wise… seems like Jayz only reaches out to talent that would be no threat to himself … thats why he wanted to keep Kanye chained to the boards, and away from all microphones …

    ^^
I would normally take this time to send a shot in Ortiz’ direction, but all jokes aside, the nature of Joell’s style, whether you like it or not, just doesnt fit in with the post-retirement “evolution” of Hov. For better or worse, dude is about pop singles and R&B tinged hiphop now. And depending on who you listen to, he couldnt find a hit-making chemistry with Dre (the other side says Interscope were extremely disappointed with the sales and public response to the Koch album he put out).
