Did Jay have an actual hit record before Vol. 2?

    No. No he didn’t.
    ^^

u r simple, aint no nigga single was certified gold, thats a hit

  2. reggaetonslasher Says:

whats it all worth can’t take it with you under this earth (c) Nas.

real talk though… if you can’t kick back at 55 and break bread with niggas you came up with reminiscing on old times, the groupies you ran through, that’s no fun. Jay prolly go Tah Tah and bleek on speed dial. I know them niggas tired of camel.

  3. b-ease Says:

They were responsible for a large share of the work on Vol. 2.

    ^^
They did two tracks each. Nigga What Nigga Who wasnt released as a single until after the album had been certified 2x platinum, the Foxy collab is considered by most to be the weakest track on the album. And being that he was already being crucified by hiphop puriest for his Casio work, Swizz owes as much to Jay, as Jay does Swizz. And Money Cash Hoes, while a popular “street” single, was never a hit, and “Coming of Age” 2, while incredible, is the definition of album cut.

  4. reggaetonslasher Says:

Jay’s gonna find himself at 50+ at Chris Martins crib feeling sick and outta place. Like damn I miss my niggas.

  5. Smoke Greene Says:

Really? Then why’d the album tank?

The stans are out in full force lol.

    ^^
Just being clear that you’re not referring to me. I’m just battling illogic with logic. It is what it is.

  7. Smoke Greene Says:

    They did two tracks each.
    ========================
    Wrong.

  8. why? Says:

Murs is wack… i mean … dude is hella wack …

    slug > murs …

^ Nah but have you heard his collab album with 9th wonder? Murray’s Revenge? That shit was a good album.

    http://www.clevver.com/music/video/32940/murs-murrays-revenge.html

Murs before 2007 > After 2007 when he got into the whole hipster douchebag L.A scene and made that awful Murs for President album. Evidence remains as one of the only true rappers trying to remain loyal to his underground roots.

  9. TheCo!!inB Says:

Swizz did If I Should Die, Comin of Age 2 and Money Cas Hoes on Vol2.

  10. Smoke Greene Says:

Just being clear that you’re not referring to me.

Nigga, I’m talking to you and that nappy headed hoe you call a mother.

    Fuck is you?

  11. b-ease Says:

    They did two tracks each.
    ========================
    Wrong.

    ^^
    Nope, I’m right.

Timbo – Nigga What, Nigga Who and Paper Chase

Swizz – Money Cash Hoes and Coming of Age 2

If I’m wrong, please enlighten me. I notice you don’t have quite as much to type when presented with facts as opposed to emotion, lol. You’re no better than the blind stans.

  12. reggaetonslasher Says:

listen to old roca fella magic, that “Crew Love” track is bonkers.

Are you kidding me??? The album was relesed on a independent label format at first, because it was so successful, def jam bought the rights to the album and than it went gold and gave jayz and dame a record label after that, not only do u hate, but u just spit non sense to go with it…check ur facts

    who ya wit
    sunshine
    city is mine
    aint no nigga
    streets is watching

    ^^
    And to prove my non-standom…

None of the above songs were hits in the traditional sense (Billboard) except Aint No Nigga, which I already acknowledged was propelled by the Foxy verse (she had an insane buzz at the time).
    ___________________________________________________________

those songs were on the billboard…not mega hits but certainly enough to make the album go platinum….So you saying you never heard those songs or the radio or seen the video on MTV or BET?

    Little Known Producer Fact:
Timbaland spent the better part of 2 hours laying the hand claps on “When It’s Hot” for Vol 3 to get them just right. Audibly most people can’t tell what’s unique about the clap patern.

That man is going to be with his family and his wife at that age, as i do, my number one concern is my wife and 2 girls, not some ninjas that i burned with and rain trains on h0es with back in the day, my man you grow up and you move on to diff. things in your life, i can tell you are young or do not have a family, because ur perspective of what “grown men” do is way off base…

going gold on an independent label and gaining enough attention from a major label is a hit, just think that album that u are sh!tting on was the launching board for his def jam deal and the foundation for the 500 mil plus he has now, but im sure u dont see that, because of the way u think…..no shots but i pray for u

  35. why? Says:

Who gives a fuck if jays early albums didn’t have super hit songs on em. You can’t deny reasonable doubt was a classic album.

Being a classic and having a cult following > Being a hit song/album and being forgotten within 2 or 3 months.

^ you guys are conditioned for success, much respect in that token. But whats sad is the disconnect from human compassion, in exchange for wealth. Burning bridges is a part of growth i’m well aware of that, but don’t let money blind you to the point you feel you don’t need anyone.

  44. Boos Bigelow Says:

I didnt know beans was banned from clear channel….man I see why hov stopped fucking with dude…clear channel is basically the whole fucking radio industry…You fucking with niggas pockets on that one…

You fuck up with clear channel and you’re just about done…

  45. reggaetonslasher Says:

not some fabricated mafia fam. that was formed to sell units to the public…dudes are naive..its just entertainment people

^roffle… I dig that, but obviously Beans didnt get the memo.

  46. why? Says:

Oh but jay did have his few hit songs that established his place in pop culture. IMO having a classic album is the best cuz you know for sure at some point in an artists career they did something great. It’s kind of like Kanye. Kanye was in a similar situation where his first two albums had their following but then Ye comes with Graduation and starts making songs meant to be on the charts and yeah I guess these dudes just thought they had potential in making hit records and at the end of day knew how they can use their talents to gain a lot of money.

Graduation = HOV’s VOL 2 as in the album that has an artist go from somewhat known to mainstream famous.

  47. Ted DiBiase Says:

lmao this guy sucks but for some reason NR post everything they can find about him, please stop your lame’n up my day.
