Video: Funkmaster Flex: “We Put Too Much Pressure On Lil Wayne”

It seems like Funkmaster Flex has a bit of a soft spot for Lil Wayne…If you partake regurarly in the online constituent of the hip-hop culture, you’d notice Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex steers clear of it. And not because he has a habit of saying the wrong thing(s), it seems like (imo) it’s just not his cup of tea. Think about it, when was the last time you saw Flex on your favorite blog?

Well, last week I had the pleasure in kicking it with Flex during a meet and greet/pow wow session for the revealing of his new customized Ford Taurus SHO. After touching on the differences between the automotive industry and the music industry, I thought it would be interesting to see where Flex’s head was at in regards to the current state of hip-hop. Out of left field, Flex went in (insert HOT 97 explosion here).

I found Flex’s perspective very intriguing. However, I’ll tuck that in the holster and reveal it later this week. What I found even more interesting is Flex’s positive and even remorseful rant towards Dwayne Carter.

Based on our conversation prior, I could see exactly where his Weezy commentary derived from. It just shocked me he was so open with his admission. And to be quite honest, I agree with him 86%. At times, as a culture, we do expect A LOT from Lil Wayne. –LowKey

I wouldn’t say for years but i see what you’re saying. I mean, i could sit here and say a bunch of stuff about 50 but i don’t want to seem like I’m “hating”, so I’ll fall back.

  3. Black Brokaw Says:

Nobody put pressure on him. Dwayne clear said he doesn’t know how to rap. But everyone believed that he was the best rapper alive for some reason..

  4. Troyvul Says:

    @ Billz

You listen to that Wiz yet?

  5. Mr. Iceberg Slim Says:

Wtf u talking about man, talk with some sense, jayz did more things for beans than most people did for the on kids, a record label that albums came out on (state property 1 and 2 and young guns) does yayo or banks have labels?? Gave him a clothing line in Macys (does yayo or banks have that?? and 3 movies (was yayo or banks starting in any movie?? Dont be pulled in by some of the ignint commenters, jay did a lot for beans even after beans went to dame dash music group, jay still had him on his last album and u 4get beans smiling in the roc boys video or u 4 get this line

    Now its big buisnesses,
    You see them big bentley-skids
You see them Bee’s on those shiny-ass
    Rims of his,
You can’t find him in the woods,
    With his kids with his
Mob cookin breakfast with no S.W.A.T.
    A good day this is.
You could bull-shit with rap if you want,
I pull the bull-shit to the back
    And put rap in front.
    Now I’m State-Prop flickin’ it
    State-Prop stitchin’ it.
    I’m paper soldier yall,
    Your boy gettin’ rich

And than beans said that jay also offered him money and he did not want it, Beans stated he wanted to leave and go to gunit, so i ask you who turned their back on who…some of u people can not see facts for sh!t, but because jay dont gossip and run to blogs and radio stations to tell his side, u all assume he is guilty look at facts..

  6. The Shot Clock aka I'm a Nahmerican Says:

I think Hov should go on Flex or Angie and set the record straight, just to alleviate everyone curiosity on the matter. But i do feel like Beans will call up and confront Hov and Hov isn’t a confrontation dude, well at least to the naked eye he’s not.

    ^

once Hov goes on air and “sets the record straight” that means a discourse between he and his accusers has begun, and in that sense he will have lost.

  7. Mr. Iceberg Slim Says:

And dre i nvr comment on most of ur sh!t, but you have to look at things open minded, the only thing you can say jayz did thats wrong is move on with his life and remove his self from been hurt by beans lack of self control, but nvr once did beans out of his mouth say jay stole from him, hurt his family or anything, but we have dame dash that stole all this money and most of u fools say nothing, but because jayz wants to progress himself now he is the one that aint about sh!T

Most of u can say stan or whatever,b ut if u look at what im saying these are facts im typin not b.s

Point taken. I can’t argue that.

And going back to Jay-Z & Beans, Dame was responsible for the label, the movies & the clothing line, not Jay-Z.

And again, it’s the Jay-Z stans who always bring it back to money when it’s not really about that. But they refuse to look at it in that manor because they know it exposes his bitchassness.

Dude how smart on you, nothing and i mean nothing gets approved money wise thru that label unless jayz approved it or gave it his ok, stop been naive, u can fool some of these unedumacted ninjas on here, but dont come to me with that, all three of those had to have money backing by roc a fella and trust me s. carter signed that

and as far as anything else, any grown man can move on with his life after he felt he did all he can do with a person and we point out the money and the labels because thats where jay was trying to help beans and steer him right, but in the midst of all that dude is shooting people and getting shot

If you going have a convo, be real about it, dont type no sandra rose sh!t, but as far as a risk beans was arrested 6 times in a 2 year span and jay still supported dude, by coming to trial, writing letters to judge and putting beans on his last album, even after beans went to dame dash music group..if i feel another dude is a loose cannon and can hurt what i have built for my REAL FAMILY,yes i will cut him loose, and my nigga if u have a fam. i hope u will do the same thing

really tho, old white people LOVE Jigga….what planet are you living on? Dude was at outdoor events with Blooomberg, politickin with Bill Gates, buddy buddy with Obama. The Russians that bought up NJ Nets went right to Jigga to get to Lebron even tho he’s a minority owner.

Nigga was chosen to basically represent and commemorate the entire city of NY on this year’s 9/11.

    wake up.

First off, Beans is nice. He’s an asset on any track he’s on, so that spot on AG benefited both parties.

But go back and listen to that interview.

Beans says Hov said they had a convo where a convo never took place.

Beans says Hov wouldn’t vouch for him in court & watched as the CO’s took him back to jail.

Beans says Hov called the boys on him at Powerhouse.

That shit (if true) is damaging.

    EVERYTHING IS JAY Z’s FAULT…..EVERYTHING…………….

^if beans said jay stole money, it would be one thing. but beans is saying things that are more emotional and not really on some man shit. if beans was really as gangster as he’s claiming, he wouldnt be making these emotional type pf arguments.

jay z- pretty self explanatory 11 straight number 1 albums, almmost half are arguable classic, some would say all are lyrical classics

Nas-pretty self explanatory, arguably more lyrical than jay, some say he only had one classic album but that one may be as good as any jay album, ether is still know as one of the greatest diss records

eminem-contoversial i know, but probably the most lyrical on the list. has 2nd rawest delivery on the list, arguably the best at freestyling on the list. killed jay z on his own song( renegade) took a four year break came back and dropped a classic (controversial). Relapse 2 coming soon….

wayne- YEP he makes the list, king of mixtapes(suffix, prefix, dedication 1-3, da drought 1-3, no ceilings, lil weezyana+ all unofficail mixtapes with new songs like carter 3 sessions) and features, delivery is raw as fuck(when he wants) and maybe that puts him on this list(jay z: with wayne it’s not always WHAT he says(lyrics), but how he says it(delivery)). going back to 2000 nobody has had as much punchlines(and probably songs) as wayne. im not gonna do an honourable mentions list cause yall are gonna bring them up
