Video: Saigon Interview w/ RR

Here I am giving niggas medicine, and they all gravitating towards poison. So I’m like, maybe I need to put a poison sign on my shit for them to come over here… So I gotta play the game. “For Some Pussy,” songs like that. You know how many shows I got booked already off that, and that just came out two days ago. Sad reality… If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, what good does it do… Once I get the focus, then I can do what I want… Whole time people told me upnorth, you put a Playboy cover on a bible, more people will read it.

Props to B. Dot

The rest of the interview after the jump. (Saigon almost signed to G-Unit early on, how Warning Shots 2 came about, and more on “playing the game.”)

    why is that stupid?

you spending 5.99 for your Chapmpion hoodie (lol) is the same as P spending fiteen g’s on that Hermes joint.

and btw….he prolly spent much less for it than that, if he paid for it at all.

    ^^^

LOL…i kid bout the champion hoodie…just always suspect bout friviuolous spending…could give a fuck on how anyone spends their coin though…none of my business….but cosign on that he prolly didnt even pay for it.

  7. D. Billz Says:

Maybe, maybe not. All depends on Jim’s ego. That’s why he had Stacks and Max write shit for him and wanted to start a fake beef with Cam so that they could split. He wanted to be the biggest star in Dipset. He got his wish, at the cost of the demise of the Dips. Good for him.

for one, I didn’t bring up Jay, not even a little bit. furthermore, all I’m saying is youre crazy if you call that performance average. It wasn’t the best performance ever, but there’s 20K people who were at MSG who could tell you the shit wasn’t ‘average’. so me saying that means I’m jocking Jay? but this clown saying “Max can make a wack song sound like a platium hit” isn’t out of control stannery? I’m not saying you can’t stan for Max, but don’t talk shit to me, when I never said anything so asinine about Jay in my life. stop fucking reaching.

anyway…selling out a show and putting on a good performance are two different things. Jay has made good music and people can come and rock to the hits cos his catalogue is deep enough that you can get nostalgic and here some new shit all on the same night. the the stage looks pretty, the band is tight but…

  60. eskay Says:

    >>considered by who exactly? all u niggas in NY circle jerking to his music?

I mean, the nigga repeatedly packs stadiums, not clubs, STADIUMS, across the country and around the world. so what, all of those people who go to his concerts and then go again when he comes back the next year on tour are paying $100+ a ticket to see a wack performer? the nigga had a stadium full of brit rock snobs rocking at Glastonbury. you need waaay more people.

  61. b-ease Says:

    My 2 cents :

JayZ WAS a horrible live performer, but a growing classic catalogue and major touring have made him ill. With that said, Alicia saved him at the VMAs. He was out of breath and hoarse. And maybe a little nervous at first.

Stack Bundles had less than a snowballs chance in hell of ever acheiving any measure of success in hiphop. Generic, talentless hack, no shots.

    That is all.

  62. SeeAmI? Says:

SO does anyone remember the audio snippets Jus Blaze was playing before that we were all stanning over? what ever happend to those, and of course Sais’ major album

  63. anti-camel Says:

  64. eskay is a knob slobber Says:

this dude eskay is the biggest knob slobber of jay of all time – i think eskay secretly wishes and think that jayz will read one of his posts and invite him over to pour champagne over his head and take his manhood.

  65. spirit equality Says:

and wasnt Jay around for like 8 years or so before he finally blew up?

^^ jay first appeared in a cameo with jaz-o in 88. he didn’t put out a solo single until seven years later. his solo debut album came out in 96, eight years later. but it’s not like he was releasing tons of material in that seven year span…in fact, i only remember four songs jay was on from 88-94 (originators, hawaiian sophie, can i get open and that song with kane, shyheim and them). that’s less than 1 song a year. dude really wasn’t serious about rap until they started pushing the dead presidents single, if his output is any gauge.

  66. spirit equality Says:

as for jay’s live performance skill, i’d say jay pretty much focuses on the rhyming and doesn’t move around a lot. this does NOT make him a horrible performer, since performing some of jay’s more complicated patterns live (in a way comparable to the studio version) is a feat unto itself (particularly his more rapid fire material on reasonable doubt). while he lacks the dynamic stage presence of busta or even kanye, he rocks his vocals spot-on and even keeps the crowd entertained with between-song banter (which some people are *HORRIBLE* at). jay isn’t the most dynamic performer…he’ll never out-perform, say, big daddy kane…but he does a good job.
