Curren$y – Jet Files Tracklist & Press Release

I’m happy to share some new info on not one, but two new Spitta projects that are on the horizon. Jets!

Hit the jump.

Curren$y returns with Amalgam Digital to release Digital-Only “Jet Files” 10-6-2009 as a prelude to “The Grand Scheme of Things”

After breaking the news at the DunkxChange in Boston, the New Orleans rapper Curren$y is set to release two new projects “Jet Files” and the “Grand Scheme of Things” on Amalgam Digital.

With the success of his “This Ain’t No Mixtape,” and fresh off of releasing his joint mixtape “How Fly” with Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y and Amalgam Digital are proud to announce the release of “Jet Files” as a prelude to the forthcoming “Grand Scheme of Things” album.

“Jet Files” is scheduled for a digital-only release October 6th 2009 and will be available exclusively on AmalgamDigital.com. The Jets are circling as Curren$y will follow up with “Grand Scheme of Things” available online at AmalgamDigital.com, as well as traditional store locations.

By releasing “Jet Files” in digital format Curren$y adds to his impressive resume of material released over the past few years. With the jump to AmalgamDigital for “This Ain’t No Mixtape” he achieved a new level of stardom and reach. With this unique hybrid release “Jet Files”, Spitta is demonstrating that he is one of the most talented young rappers to enter the game. Dig deep into the “Jet Files” and see him working with producers Ced Hughes, Big Chop, Nesby Phips as well as Amalgam Digital’s promising new in-house producer Whitey. Curren$y is creating his own sound that shows his versatility and offers fans a chance to experience more of Spitta’s plethora of style as he dives into story telling mode regarding a Menage a trois on “Bring Her home”. It shows the growth over the past year that has allowed him to remain relevant and recognized by such publications as XXL, who rated Curren$y as one of the top new artists of the year.

“Ima smoke a joint for Amalgam Digital / I already had the plain, they fit it with the missiles though” – Curren$y

After “Jet Files” Curren$y will craft another opus. “Grand Scheme of Things” will bring all the growth and talent together to show an artist fully hitting his stride and perfecting his own lane. Curren$y has been touring and performing at the DunkXchange this past year as well as performing to a packed house at South By Southwest in Texas. This is the digital release that will take him to the next step in his career. The Jets are circling and they’re flying high, the Fly Society Jets that is.

Tom, you’ve got it right here, unlike eskay of Nah right, who for some reason has decided to come out of the closet as either an employee of Def Jam of some sort of obstinate NY rap advocate. His dismissal of Wayne in his post today and yesterday (well, I guess he’s not really dismissing him since he actually bothered to post about him at all) is one of the first times I’ve seen him actual come out and state an explicit opinion, no less one that is indefensible. Kingdom Come is so self-evidently terrible, I don’t even know how you can’t bemoan Jay’s quarter or eighth -ass effort on the actual music, which is now obviously playing second fiddle to his newly minted, bono-of-rap type self-promotional enterprise.

Nah right is a THE site for hip hop news, and its biased, ny-centric news in a good way. But there’s a difference between giving a news blog a personality and unapologetically backing a the biggest rapper in the world when he has completely left behind the reason he is the biggest rapper in the world: making great hip hop music. Jay-Z has all of a sudden become irrelevant to music, regardless if he goes platinum. Anybody with a critical cell in their body can tell that Kingdom Come is a cynical, lazy, boring-ass commodity.

In the scholarly discourse known as the Nah right comments section, eskay basically says Kingdom Come is a great album and Lil Wayne is bad because there is a picture of him kissing Baby on the mouth or something. To read that shit was depressing and i’ve lost a lot of faith in what was an essential blog.

    >>In the scholarly discourse known as the Nah right comments section, eskay basically says Kingdom Come is a great album and Lil Wayne is bad because there is a picture of him kissing Baby on the mouth or something.

^I said nothing of the sort. Kingdom Come is a great album, in my opinion and thats all there is to it. Do I lose credibility for that opinion? Possibly. Do I give a fuck? You wouldn’t believe how much I could care less. You think I’m gonna dis an album I enjoy just because every body else on the planet finds it too ‘grown’ or whatever absurd reason you people are using to hate on it this week? Get the fuck outta here. You people who are just now finding my blog after a year and half kill me with your fucking statements. I just decided to come out the closet as an obstinate NY rap advocate? You have to be kidding me, I’ve been one of those since day one.

You should also learn to comprehend what you read, because if you did, you would have noticed that I said in the post that I enjoy some of Wayne’s music. As a matter of fact I had Carter 2 on my list of top 10 albums for this past year. Baffling isn’t it? How can somebody enjoy Wayne and Kingdom Come at the same time?

Stop playing I like both these dudes, but after a while Curren$y kinda raps about the same stuff. Crook got that gangsta shit while dropping sick lines. Dude rapped for a whole year and didn’t drop a bullshit song. Imagine is fuckin ill. Young Spitta can be a little one dimensional with all the weed talk. Which is why him and Wiz went so good together. Just saying both these dudes get heavy rotation from me.
