The original purple tape> Illmatic. Real talk.

Nas had to cherry pick from top producers to end up with an such a dope album aka illmatic, but Rae accomplished it with just rza. that’s chemistry.

even nas on Verbal Intercourse> nas on your favourite song from illmatic. plus that verse is mad old.

illmatic sounds like an old outdated album ….it was written is still fresh and nas’ flow is timeless….”If I ruled the world” can come out now and be a hit.

Only filler on the purple tape was spot rusherz, and that song is no worse than Nas is coming. But I’m not a fan of the “this had fillers” argument in determing dopeness between classics. I mean Aquemini has more fillet than ATliens, but I’d still prolly say that Aquemini is the stronger album. Ready to Die has a good amount if filler, but its doper than Moment of Truth, which doesn’t, and so on and so on…

one thing for sure though is that albums today and in recent years labelled “classic” get away with a lot more filler than classic albums in the 90’s. maybe cuz the term classic today is so over used.

Ghost can’t make a “can I get a” because with the exception of this new album, he’s never been the type of dude to compromise artistic integrity for a hit record. Jay is that type of dude.

Ghost rapped over a whole delfonics song from beginning to end. how the fuck can anyone say he isn’t versatile. if anything, he’s the most versatile mc i know. he’s just not gonna make some shitty club record to sell copies.

Jay Z is the mcdonalds of rap. Spends a shit load of money on advertisement, caters to the masses, but in the end, he’s selling you the same shit over and over.

Ghost is more like a ma and paps restaurant with real chefs and better food, only he’s never gonna reach the huge audience that mc d’s has because he simply doesnt have the funding.

Jay z pretty much sabotaged Big Doe Rehab by spending all of def jams marketing money on his own album, and then jumping ship. the nigga had a billboard on sunset strip. that shit aint cheap. Meanwhile ghost and anyone else on def jam at the same time trying to put an album out had to put it out with little to no promotion whatsoever. that’s some sideways shit…
